Counter-Strike: Global Offensive became a free to play game since the 9th of December 2018. All players are now able to obtain access to all game modes, matchmaking, and a limited set of item drops and weapon cases. However, there is a possibility to upgrade your free copy of Global Offensive to the Prime Status.
It’s an upgrade available to all CS: GO players which guarantees you matching with other players who also have Prime Status and Prime users are eligible for Prime-exclusive souvenir items, item drops, and weapon cases. You can either get the Prime Status by reaching level 21 or by simply buying it on the store.
The first Counter-Strike game was published in 1999 exclusively on Windows. It was initially released as a mod for Half-Life.
You will either need a Playstation 3, Xbox 360, an OSX System or a regular Windows PC. To run Counter-Strike on your PC, you will need at least an Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 / AMD Phenom X3 8750 or better. You will also require 2 GB of RAM, at least 15GB of HDD storage space and a GPU with more than 256MB of memory.
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is currently available for PC, Mac OSX, Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3.
