Four reasons to play CS:GO in English

This may seem counter-intuitive to people who don't know English very well — because how is changing the language in a game to which they don't speak will help them? Sounds like nonsense, right? Well, there are some interesting arguments for playing CS:GO in English even if you don't know it very well. Here are just a few of them:

  • Good way to learn a language. These days, English is everywhere. By playing your favorite game in this language, you'll learn in some way. You'll end up reading, listening, seeing words in different contexts.
  • Improves knowledge of location names and slang. From our experience, CS:GO locations can sound entirely different in various languages. You don't even have to use perfect English in this case — most players will understand what you mean, and it's better than trying to say the location name in your native language.
  • Makes it easier to enjoy CS:GO-related guides and articles. Most tutorials on the internet are only available in English. It is much easier to follow the instructions when you have the same language set as the tutorial creator.
  • Streamlines your contact with Steam Support. When you need to contact support (e.g., if there is a bug or an error), you often have to visualize the situation with a game screenshot. You will make the Steam Support employee's job much easier if you send them a screenshot of the text they understand.

What languages can you play CS:GO in?

As of today, CS:GO is available in 25 languages. These are: Bulgarian, Chinese, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, Vietnamese.

Now you know the different ways to switch languages in CS:GO and the advantages of playing in other languages (especially English). The easiest option to change languages will probably be through the Steam app and Language tab, but if you encounter any problems with this method, you have three other ways after all! We hope that this article helped you improve your in-game communication and gameplay experience.
