Best Lin Fei combos, strings and tips in Brawlhalla

Lin Fei, The Teacher is a katars and cannon wielding master.

Lin Fei Stats

1

As you can see Lin Fei has all the focus on Dexterity. So the obvious choice would be Strength as it it’s only at 3 bars? Well you would be wrong. Speed might be a good choice, but the Dex stat is the one we recommend. It’s gonna feel really good and the combos are gonna land nicely.

Basics of Brawlhalla combos

There are two types of attacks: light and signature

2

Light attacks are used for approaching an enemy.

3

Signature attacks are used for finishing an opponent.

Every legend has the same light attacks (if they have the same weapon), but signatures are different for every legend. Signatures are also referred to as sigs.

Lin Fei Katars Best Combos, Strings and Signature moves

Katars > sSig

This sig has great area coverage and it has also somewhat good range. You can use this sig on stage for some strings, you can pair it with a slide etc.. Finishes opponents at ~150%.

Katars > nSig

Lin Fei charges up a dragon which then blazes through the air hitting any enemy that gets in its way. The signature has great area coverage and decent range. It does serve good in some strings, but it does not have a true combo paired with it. You can use it for edge-guarding, strings, pair it with a slide etc.. A cool feature this signature has however, is that it is semi two-part, meaning that you can hit the first part of the signature, charge it up a bit and then releasing which will then hit your stunned opponent with a stronger, second hit. This can help you get a kill a bit sooner. Finishes opponents ~140%.

Katars > dSig

A interesting signature that has great range, good area coverage and does come in handy. The main purpose of this move is edge-guarding, but it is also a very fast move which then allows it to be paired with strings. You can also pair it with a gravity cancel to give a little bit of mix up to your recovery but make sure you experiment with this move so that you can use it to its full dodge read potential! Finishes opponents ~170%, on stage.

Best Lin Fei Katars combos and strings

Katars are the type of weapon that requires you to read where your opponent is going, and in return, the reward will be extraordinary. These are just some of the combos you can try with them, but keep in mind that in real games you should mix them up to whatever the situation requires. Always have at least 5 dexterity stat with katars.

sLight > nLight

The staple of katar combos. Very easy to do, this is the first one you should learn. The reason this is so good is that it can be used almost all of the time, really good for making a string out of it and throw the word consistent while you are at it. You can add sAir into this, nAir, dLight, etc. Can work at later percentages if dash is added after the sLight.

sLight > dLight

Also a very good and reliable combo. This one is a bit harder, but still easy. The reason is you have to add a dash after the sLight. After you learn that, it's simple. Also a good string starter. Works at later percentages the same

nAir > dLight

After the nAir buff, this is by far the best katar combo. It's reliable, easy and so much more. It can be done at later percentages too. Good string starter and does so much damage. There are so many angles you can take this as well, depending on where the nAir hits. One variation of this is nAir > nLight instead of the dLight. Try it out for yourself.

nAir > sLight

For this string you need 5 dexterity stat. On katars you should always aim for 5 dexes, it's a must. If you don’t sLight > dLight and sLight > nLight aren’t true. This is a better combo starter than the nAir > dLight version. It works to ~50% after you have to input a dash and it is no longer true. Very consistent combo.

nAir > sLight > dLight

This is a “true” combo. It racks up great damage and is a must

considering it is true. The only downfall is that it is only possible at early percentages. Possible up to 50%

sLight > dLight > dLight > nAir > dAir > nLight

This is one of the more complex strings but it does deal high damage. The reason this string is great is that the first two hits are true, then the third hit, dLight can read your opponent's neutral dodge. After you land the dLight you just follow it up with. After 80% the nAir hits your opponents too far so the follow-up dAir is not possible..

sLight > nLight > nAir

Good and very easy string to do in-game. While there are some better options, if you start with sLight this string is a good choice. Can work at later percentages if dash is added after sLight.

Lin Fei Cannon Best Combos, Strings and Signature moves

Cannon > sSig

Basically the same as the katars sSig, except that you can whiff your opponents if too close. Finishes opponents ~150%

Cannon > nSig

Very fast signature that has a true combo. Has decent range and great are coverage, make sure you abuse it to your fullest, but don’t spam it! Finishes opponents ~160%

Cannon > dSig

Also a fast signature but does not have a true combo. Main purpose is for edge-guarding, but don’t spam it. Finishes opponents ~170%.

Best Lin Fei cannon combos and strings

dLight > nAir

A great combo that is a kill confirm and racks up crazy damage! Make sure you practice this combo, because you will need to use it if you want to kill your opponent in the middle of the stage, because the sAir kills earlier when you are on the edge. Possible from 50-400% because of dLight’s fixed knockback. Must have!

dAir > sLight

Superb string that can lead into many others. Cannon, just like scythe is all about mixup, but unlike scythe it also has true combos which is a huge bonus. You also need to practice this string. Possible up to 100%, after this percentage the dodge window is huge.

nLight > sLight

Whilst the sAir variation does have a dodge window of 2 (earlier percentages), making it 4 frames faster than the sLight version, it does put you in a very bad position if you whiff it, hence why we think that the sLight variation is better in some scenarios, experimentation is key. Both are great strings, but however the sAir variant has kill potential at ledge. Possible up to 80% after very high dodge windows.

sLight > sAir

This string is great for racking up damage and it is a must considering it also has a dodge window of 2. Basic principle of many other complex strings, just like the next one. Be sure to use it when near the end of the stage because it is also a great kill confirm! Possible at all percentages!

dAir > sLight > sAir > Rec

One of the more complex strings in cannon’s kit. Cannon is somewhat mixup dependent, yes you could stick to some basic true combos and some strings, but complex strings like this one are the real deal. Make sure you practice it and be sure to develop your own strings!

dLight > nSig

A true signature combo. Make sure you practice it so you can use it as a kill option if you are in the middle of the stage, or just want to rack up some cheap damage. True up to 170%.
