What Are The Best Dota 2 Micro Hotkeys?
If you’re trying to reach a high rank in Dota 2, then one of the best ways to do so is to be able to efficiently control your hero. In order to effectively control your hero, you’ll need to focus on improving the ability of your micro skills. Here are some of the most useful and important micro hotkeys that you should start using today!
This article will be divided into two parts, the first being unit specific hotkeys, and the second one being control groups.
Unit Control Hotkeys
Check out some of the best Unit Control hotkeys that professional players use.
The first micro hotkey we recommend using is the Select Hero hotkey. Clicking on the key the first time will select your hero, and clicking it twice will lock your camera onto your hero. This keybind will help a lot when you’re looking at other parts of the map and want to go back to your hero quickly.
Select All Controlled Units
Heroes that have summoning abilities such as illusion heroes or creep-related heroes will demand you to control the units as much as possible.
The Select All Controlled Units hotkey will ensure that you can control every single one of your controlled units at a time. This will make it easy for you to have all your units move together and attack the same enemy units.
Select All Other Units
The Select All Other Units can be found in the Advanced Option Menu, and is used to control every single one of your controlled units except for your own hero. This is the perfect micro hotkey to help players quickly farm with their illusions or summoning ability, as they can simply send their controlled units to push out a lane.
Cancel Current Action
The Cancel Current Action hotkey is arguably one of the most useful hotkeys in all of Dota 2. The bind allows you to precast animations, such as attack animations and ability casting animations as well.
Making full use of the hotkey will allow you to master the concept of last hitting and denying creeps, and will also help you change your mind while you’re in the middle of casting an ability or teleportation.
The Attack Move hotkey can be used for two things:
- Denying your own creeps in order to reduce the amount of EXP the enemy laner receives.
- Auto attack for a short period of time. Can be very helpful for farming neutral camps.
Definitely make use of the Attack Move key to improve your micro management.
The Learn Ability key will allow you to level up an ability quickly. Using this hotkey can really assist you in the laning stage and in the middle of teamfights.
When you level up in the middle of the laning stage or a teamfight, you can quickly level up your abilities in a short period of time.
If you’re ready to go to the next level with your micro skills, then Control Groups are the perfect challenge for you. Control Groups are used by players who play heroes with lots of summoning abilities, such as Chen, Beastmaster, Visage, and Lycan.
The Next Unit key will help you cycle through your units one by one. This can be very useful if you’ve just summoned a unit or an illusion, so you can immediately press the hotkey to select it.
Group 1, 2, 3, ..
Players can have up to four groups on their control groups. To set a “Group,” simply select the unit, then press Control and the hotkey at the same time. Once you have done so, that specific unit on your specific hero will be locked, so every time you press the hotkey, that particular unit will be selected.
You can always reset the Groups by selecting different units and repeating the process. Definitely a must-use if you’re looking to improve your micro heroes.
