Most expensive Dota 2 Items

Here are the most expensive Dota 2 Skins of this year!

Given that Dota 2 is a competitive game with a huge player base, it shouldn’t surprise us that some of the game’s cosmetic items are extremely expensive. Players are proud of having these skins in their inventory which constantly fuels its ever-growing economy.

In this article, we will cover the most expensive Dota 2 skins and what makes them so unique.

Legacy Ethereal Flames Wardog

The story of Legacy Ethereal Flame Wardog is one of the most bonkers stories pertaining to game cosmetics. This is the most expensive Dota 2 skins that was sold back in 2013 for $38,000. This was, and still is, the record-breaking price.

Legacy Etheral Flames Wardog is a variation of Wardog courier. It has a unique enteral flame effect that makes it easily recognizable on the map.

  • Rarity: Mythical
  • Slot: Courier
  • Released: 31 May 2012
  • Origin: Created by adding ethereal flame into an unusual courier
  • Price: $38,000

Desert Sands Baby Rohan

As you can presume based on its name, Desert Sands Baby Roshan has a specific sand animation when it moves. The courier leaves a dusty trail as it traverses the map. Like most other Baby Roshan couriers, it is very popular and sought after by community members.

On top of that, this item is really hard to get, which is why it has such a high price. You could only acquire it by receiving 3 stars during the Siltbreaker campaign.

  • Rarity: Immortal
  • Slot: Courier
  • Released: 04 May 2017
  • Origin: Given to players who have completed the Siltbreaker campaign with 3 stars
  • Price: $1,733

Alpine Stalker’s Set

Alpine’s Stalker’s Set is one of the most recognizable sets in Dota 2. Most skins in this game follow the general theme of a hero. While these cosmetics are meant to improve the hero’s appearance, they won’t stray away from their base model.

This all changes with the Alpine’s Stalker’s Set. The bungle gave Ursa the appearance of a mountain climber. Furthermore, this is the main reason why the set was removed one week after its initial release. There was a major backlash because of the set's theme, so Valve decided to remove it from the store.

Due to this reason, the set is quite unique, and you can only trade the limited amount of copies that were bought before the set was removed. It always had a relatively high price.

  • Hero: Ursa
  • Rarity: Immortal
  • Slot: Bundle
  • Released: 15 Aug 2012
  • Origin: Limited
  • Price: $1,204

Legacy Stumpy - Nature's Attendant

Stumpy is very different from all other couriers in the game. While most other skins are based on animal models, this one relies on a grumpy stump. It is especially popular among Nature's Prophet players due to its Treant model, but it can be used by anyone.

The courier doesn’t have any special effects or animations, but it is still really cool and unique-looking even without these features.

  • Rarity: Immortal
  • Slot: Courier
  • Released: 31 May 2012
  • Origin: By adding a prismatic gem to Stumpy - Nature's Attendant
  • Price: $881

Jade Baby Roshan

Baby Roshan couriers have always been popular. They’ve had a high price from the inception, and as the years went by, we saw more and more variations of the item.

The skin looks very different from most other couriers and even from other Roshan couriers. Jade Baby Roshan has a nice green flame to it that lingers as the courier travels. Keep in mind that you could acquire this item only through the Cavern Crawl event, thus adding to its exclusivity.

  • Rarity: Legendary
  • Slot: Courier
  • Released: 08 May 2018
  • Origin: By participating in the Cavern Crawl event from The International 2018 Battle Pass
  • Price: $853

Legacy Morok's Mechanical Mediary

You can get this item by modifying Morok’s Mechanicals Mediary. Although the base item is pretty cheap, getting the prismatic gem can be rather expensive.

Investing in a prismatic gem might not be worth it in this case. While you can make a profit from price difference (Morok costs less than a dollar and gem is worth $774), it isn't really an item that you'd like to have in the game.

  • Rarity: Mythical
  • Slot: Courier
  • Released: 31 May 2012
  • Origin: By adding a prismatic gem to Morok's Mechanical Mediary
  • Price: $795

Prismatic gem

If you’re into crafting, you’ve probably heard of Prismatic gems. Although very rare and expensive, they can have a major impact on other skins.

It can be used for all custom couriers socketed with Ethereal Gems, Swine of the Sunken Galley, Terrorblade's Arcana default ambient effects, Span of Sorrow, Taunt: Techies Squint and Laugh, Padda'pon of Ribbi'tar, Fractal Horns of Inner Abysm.

Tsukumo the Moon Cloud

Tsukumo is one of the most unique items, not only for Mirana, but for all heroes in general. It completely changes the look of its mount, and instead of riding a giant cat, now you can ride a giant rabbit. So, it isn’t surprising that it’s one of the most expensive Dota 2 skins.

Needless to say, this mount completely changes the look of your hero. While the animations are relatively similar to the base mount, the feeling is very different. Tsukumo feels much bulkier, and of course, it runs like a rabbit.

When you wear this cosmetic item, your Gust animation will change. It will feel much larger, more encompassing, and it will leave a beautiful mark on the ground when you cast it.

Genuine Imperial Flame Swords Pack

This is the only cosmetic item for Ember Spirit on our list (or should we say cosmetic items). It is a mini set of two blades that was first published in 2014.

Genuine Imperial Flame Swords Pack was only available on Nexon servers. Although the item is nothing special, and it doesn't have any special effects, it has become popular due to its rarity and the fact it is hard to come by.

  • Rarity: Rare
  • Slot: Weapon pack
  • Released: 20 Nov 2014
  • Origin: Only available on Nexon servers

Shattered Greatsword

At its peak, this item was sold for about $1,000. It provides a nice ambient effect to Sven and is one of the numerous giant blades that this hero can wield.

One of the interesting things about this sword is that, in many cases, it is not tradable. You also cannot use it in crafting or for recipes.

Fantoccini's Dilemma

This bundle gives players 5 different items. You get a coat, hat, torch weapon, puppet for the other hand (called Fantoccini), as well as a loading screen.

Genuine Gilded Edge

Genuine Gilded Edge is one of the most unique items, at least in terms of its acquisition process. In order to get this skin, you had to buy the special edition of SteelSeries APEX M800 Keyboard during the International 2015. Needleless to say, given how expensive this skin is today, that purchase was more than worth it.

The weapon provides a nice ambient effect to the weapon and body, and it will make your Slark games that much more enjoyable.

  • Hero: Slark
  • Rarity: Mythical
  • Slot: Weapon
  • Released: 18 Aug 2015
  • Origin: By purchasing The International 2015 special edition of SteelSeries APEX M800 Keyboard
  • Price: $247

Corrupted Dragonclaw Hook

Corrupted Dragonclaw hook is a variation of the previously mentioned Dragonclaw hook. You can get it by corrupting the base item with a foulfell shard, or you can buy it or trade it through one of numerous Dota 2 marketplaces.

At its peak, the skin was sold at around $700. Nowadays, it is much cheaper, barely superseding the original cosmetic. Visually, there is no difference between the base item and this variation. However, as it usually goes in Dota 2, the addition of any gem or tracker will increase the original skin's price.

  • Hero: Pudge
  • Rarity: Immortal
  • Slot: Weapon
  • Released: 12 July 2012
  • Origin: By corrupting the Pudge’s Dragonclaw Hook
  • Price: $177

Dragonclaw Hook

Pudge’s Dragonclaw Hook is perhaps the most recognizable cosmetic item in the game. It gives the hook that boney look, which is why the item feels much bigger than the basic skin.  You can easily recognize it from across the screen.

The item's price has fluctuated a lot over the years. Back in the day, it was one of the most prized possessions. Given how popular Pudge is, it shouldn't surprise you that its price had remained stable and relatively high since 2012, when it was initially introduced into the game.

  • Hero: Pudge
  • Rarity: Immortal
  • Slot: Weapon
  • Released: 12 July 2012
  • Origin: Sithil's Summer Stash, Trust of the Benefactor 2016
  • Price: $146
