Best Kogmav Skins | LoL
Kog’Maw, as mentioned, was released early in League of Legends’ history. His release dates all the way back to June 24, 2010. As one of the original ADCs, with a good enchanter support, he is relevant to this day. Should you wish to play him, he has a variety of skins to choose from, and for that reason, we have compiled all his best skins in one place.
Lion Dance Kog’Maw
Kog’Maw’s Lion Dance Skin was his second released skin, that had actual changes rather than what would today be considered chromas, such as Caterpillar Kog’Maw. This skin was released by Riot Games all the way back in 2011, on February 1, during season one. This skin was modeled, quite obviously, after the Chinese lion dance. It encapsulates the innocence of Kog’Maw, as a voidling that wishes to explore the world in the only way it knows how, by eating it.
The changes this skin brings to the gameplay are numerous. While there are no new animations, you will experience the new sound effects of the Living Artillery, as well as new particles that are implemented into the visual effects, all for the price of 1350 RP.
Lion Dance Kog’Maw is an Epic-rated skin in League of Legends, meaning that you are able to purchase it at any point. However, the importance of this skin remains legendary in our hearts.
As a rule, League of Legends champions are defined by their ultimates. Though Kog’Maw is the attack speed, attack damage carry, his ultimate, Living Artillery, is the driving force behind his design, and what gives him the potential to be played with and ability power build.
The Battlecast Kog’Maw skin embodies this trait. With a gun in his mouth, a cannon on his back, and a robotic look, Battlecast Kog’Maw is a sci-fi take of League’s fantasy genre and gives off a feeling of power.
The skin was released on November 24, 2014, as an Epic-rated skin, and costs 1350 RP. As the look of the skin suggests, this was a complete overhaul and update to Kog’Maw, with new animations to all of his abilities and auto-attacks, new sounds, and recall animations.
Truly a skin worth owning whether you consider yourself a Kog’Maw main or someone who plays him casually.
If the Battlecast Kog’Maw skin subverts the fantasy trope of League of Legends, the Arcanist Kog’Maw skin certainly embodies it. The skin introduces Kog’Maw as Zoe’s new companion and removes any terror he had as a voidling, and puts an emphasis on his curiosity and exploration.
Arcanist Kog’Maw was released July 9, 2020, as an Epic-rated skin with a price of 1350 RP.
This skin, released second-to-last in his skin line, brought an update to all his animations, including the recall animation, as well as new sounds for his abilities, and their particle effects. As a high fantasy-themed skin centered around nature, this skin is perfect to play in a lane with Lulu.
Deep Sea Kog’Maw
If you’re someone that suffers from thalassophobia, you may find this skin disturbing. The Deep Sea Kog’Maw skin was released just after the Lion Dance Kog’maw one, on September 19, 2011, and it puts Kog’Maw in a whole new surrounding, making him an aquatically themed champion, of which there are few in League of Legends.
This skin is the cheapest on our list, costing only 975 RP, with the caveat that it is a Legacy skin, and can only be bought during the opening of the Legacy Vault. The only other way to acquire this skin is via a mystery gift.
As one of his older skins, Deep Seas Kog’Maw does not have any notable updates in-game, aside from his new model. However, the model makes up for it with its unique look, and synergy with Nami’s theme. Having this skin is a point of pride for any Kog’Maw main, as it means they earned it with their patience and dedication to the champion, and not just purchased it in the store.
As can be seen, Kog’Maw is a champion with a long history of skins. The Lion Dance skin was the first major update to his visuals and animations, while our favorite, Battlecast skin, took him to, before, undeveloped aspects of his design.
