Is Stake Legit? [Stake Esports Review]
Is Stake Legit?
Stake is a legit esports bookmaker, and here are four reasons we believe that is the case:
- Stake is owned and operated by Medium Rare N.V (a legit business in Curacao)
- It owns a Curacao betting licence (No. 8048/JAZ)
- Stake has been operating since 2017
- According to similarweb, Stake averages over nine million monthly users
Is Stake Legit?
Stake is a legit esports bookmaker, and here are four reasons we believe that is the case:
There is no doubt in our mind that Stake is a legit bookmaker, and there are many reasons for that. It is one of the largest crypto esports bookmakers in the world, it averages over nine million monthly visits. It is owned by Medium Rare N.V, which is the same company as Slice Media N.V., which owns and operates PrimeDice – one of the largest bitcoin casinos in the world.
Moreover, Stake is the main sponsor of Watford FC and the official betting partner of the UFC. With such big brands and companies behind Stake, you can rest assured that this is a legit sports and esports bookmaker.
Welcome Bonus and the best Promo Codes
Stake did not have a welcome bonus available at the time of our testing, but there are affiliate codes you can use while creating an account to receive a bonus.
Stake Bonus & Promotions (4/5)
Stake has an impressive offer of bonuses, promotions, and other offers for you to take advantage of. So if you're looking for some free stuff, Stake is the right place to be!
Before we touch on the more "traditional" promotions you will be able to find on Stake, we must mention some unique bonuses that Stake offers, which include: Daily rains, trivia, and roll hunts, Daily Telegram Challenges, Telegram 3rd Party Slot Hunts. Weekly challenges, Weekly Sports challenges, and monthly bonuses.
For more bonuses and offers, you have to visit Stake's "Promotions" tab, where you'll find a generous offer of sports and casino promotions. Those include contests, special bonuses (such as Easter promotion), multi-odds boosts and more!
Unfortunately, while Stake has an excitingly large selection of various promotions, it does not offer esports-related bonuses. On a more positive note, esports bets will count towards some promotions, so as an esports bettor, you won't be excluded from all contests; however, we would like to see a bit more esports bonuses to give Stake a five-star rating.
If you're looking for an esports bookie with great esports promotions, ThuderPick is a better choice. But even though Stake's bonus offer is not as good, it's still great!
Reputation & Safety (5/5)
When we talk about esports betting sites' reputations, we have to first check what online reviews of the site say. And we can't say that we were surprised to learn that Stake has a very good reputation, averaging a 4/5 rating.
We have to note that any rating above 3/5 on online review sites is a good rating, largely because most of the reviews are complaints, and a good portion of them make no sense. We dug even deeper and checked what people on online forums have to say about Stake, and we can't say we found any red flags, so all in all, Stake has a solid online reputation.
We have found one user complaining about Stake spamming him with promotions despite noting Stake about his gambling addiction. That doesn't necessarily indicate Stake has any malicious intent, but it is definitely immoral. Or maybe it was an honest mistake.
When we talk security, we can confidently say that Stake is a safe esports bookmaker. Admittedly, it owns a betting licence 8048/JAZ issued to Antillephone, which is not the most trustworthy gambling licence out there, but we couldn't find any confirmed instances of Stake scamming its users.
Moreover, Stake is an official sponsor of Watford FC, an official betting partner of the UFC and is a verified operator of the Crypto Gamgling Foundation. We must also note that Stake is owned by the same company that is behind PrimeDice, a bitcoin casino that has been operating since 2013.
All in all, we can confidently say that Stake is a legit, reputable, and safe bookmaker and online casino.
Esports Markets and Odds & Betting Features (3/5)
Stake is a sports betting site and online casino, but it also offers esports betting. Unfortunately, it does not have a separate page for esports betting markets, meaning you will need to navigate to "sports" and find the esports title you wish to bet on.
We have found betting odds and markets on seven esports titles during our testing, including Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Dota 2, FIFA, King of Glory, League of Legends, NBA2K, and Rainbow Six. Admittedly, Stake's offer of esports betting markets is not the best, so if you're looking for an esports bookie that does it better, a site like Rivalry or Vulkanbet might be better.
All in all, Stake's coverage of esports is fairly mediocre, and while there are some positives, there are way more negatives we found while testing this site out.
Stake's Counter-Strike: Global Offensive offer is decent, but it's far from great. The main issue is concerningly poor coverage of CS:GO events, seeing how we could only find odds on four tournaments.
Admittedly, this esports bookie covers the bigger events, so you should be fine if you're betting on only those. But we hoped to see better coverage of some lesser tournaments as well, so we were a bit disappointed.
Dota 2 Betting
When it comes to Dota 2, Stake does a better job in offering better coverage of events, so that is a positive. Unfortunately, one issue persists – there are just not enough betting markets available.
Prop bets are basically non-existent, and we were surprised to find out that Stake does not offer handicap betting either. And we figured that out while checking out a match in one of the world's top Dota 2 leagues. The odds quality is decent, though, but that doesn't take away from other problems.
League of Legends Betting
League of Legends is in a similar spot to Dota 2 and CS:GO, meaning that Stake has a basic coverage of major events. Still, its offer of betting markets is fairly mediocre and quite disappointing.
The betting odds are still good and much better than on most other esports bookmakers. So if you're betting mainly moneyline and on only major region leagues, Stake will be a solid LoL esports bookmaker for you. However, if you're looking for something more, an esports bookie such as Dafabet might be better.
Besides CS:GO, Dota 2, and LoL, Stake also covers FIFA, NBA2K, Rainbow Six, and King of Glory. But don't expect a better betting experience on either of these esports titles – the issues mentioned above persist across all seven.
User Experience (4.5/5)
We have nothing bad to say about Stake and its website - it's a well-designed website that works smoothly, fast, and stable. Moreover, its design makes it very easy to find what you're looking for, but we would like to see some minor changes.
Most notably, Stake does not have a separate page dedicated to esports, so you have to look for the esports title you want to bet on in the sports menu. Besides that, Stake deserves a thumbs up from us.
We were most impressed with Stake's live betting offer, which is surprisingly well made. The live betting page provides you with a stable stream and a useful infographic with live stats and other useful data. But know that some esports games from minor leagues might not have all the stats updated, so this feature, while a good one, is not consistent.
Stake also has other useful features such as bet history, your personal betting stats, and various setting you can use to adjust the site and its features to your liking. Overall, the user experience on Stake is solid, and it's clear that the company behind this esports bookie knows how to satisfy its customers.
However, since there are some inconsistencies in Stake's features, we will deduct half a point.
Customer Support (5/5)
We tested Stake customer support, and we had a solid experience overall. While you can contact Stake customer support via email, we found that live chat is the most convenient and fastest way for anyone to get in touch with the support agents.
To get in touch with the agent via a live chat, you simply need to click on the live chat button in the bottom right corner of the page and ask the question. We have to note that we had to wait up to five minutes to get in touch with customer support during our testing. But we will give Stake some slack for that since the site had a notification stating that Stake was at the time experiencing a "significant volume of inquires".
But even though we had to wait a few minutes to get in touch with the agent, we did not struggle to get the answers we were after. The agents responded quickly and provided us with professional answers, so we have to give Stake a thumbs up for that.
Alternatively, you can also visit Stake Help Center, which serves as a FAQ section. It is surprisingly well made, with detailed answers to all of the most common problems you might encounter, and it wouldn't be too far from the truth to say that Stake's FAQ is one of the best we have seen so far.
If we draw a line, there is nothing about Stake customer support that we can complain about. You can be sure that any issue that you might encounter will be resolved promptly and with an enviable degree of professionalism. This is a 5/5 from us and a much better experience than on CSGORoll.
Deposits & Withdrawal Options (5/5)
Before you can make your first deposit at Stake, you need to retrieve your deposit address which you can find by clicking on "Wallet". Once there, you will choose between the supported currencies, including BTC, LTC, ETH, BCH, DOGE, XRP, TRX, and EOS.
Know that Stake is a crypto betting site (like Duelbits) and a crypto betting site only. As such, you will be making your deposits via crypto, but know that you can also make a deposit in fiat currency and essentially buy the crypto you want through Stake via a third-party (Moonpay).
The biggest advantage of crypto deposits is the safety and the speed at which all payments are processed. Your deposits will be processed instantly on Stake, which is a massive positive. The withdrawals might take a few minutes to come through, and Stake does reserve the right to delay it if it feels like the withdrawals need to be checked, but barring any situations where the bookie will need to check your withdrawals, you can expect swift payouts as well.
We must also touch on withdrawal limits, which there are, but Stake only limits you to the minimum amount, and there is no limit to how much crypto you can withdraw at once. The minimum limits are also fairly solid, at around 30 DOGE, 2 EOS, or 0.01 ETH.
Know that there are some fees when withdrawing money from Stake, which will vary depending on which crypto you are using. So we would advise you to check with customer support what the current rates are.
Stake’s banking department does what it’s supposed to do. The withdrawals and deposits are fast, the fees are not too high, and there are enough deposit options to keep everyone satisfied.
Stake Casino (5/5)
As an online gambling site, Stake also has a casino offer, and a very good one. So if you’re tired of betting on esports and want to try your luck on some slots, card games, or anything in between, Stake has got you covered.
We weren’t able to figure out exactly how many different casino games are on Stake, but we know a few things – there are more casino games than you could wish for, and there is enough variety to keep everyone happy. Moreover, Stake also has a live casino offer with blackjack, roulette, baccarat, craps, wheel of fortune, lottery, monopoly, and much more.
We tested a few games, and we did not find any issues with them. All games work smoothly, and they all even have a demo version available, so you can test them out before you risk your hard-earned money. So all in all, Stake’s casino offer is great, and we have nothing bad to say about it. But how about fairness?
A good online casino has to have a provably fair system in place, so you can gamble on it and be sure that the games are actually fair. You can do exactly that on Stake since this online gambling site has a provably fair system (like CSGOPrime) and is a verified operator of the Crypto Gambling Foundation.
With a generous selection of casino games and a provably fair system, Stake checks all the marks of a great online casino. And as such, it deserves all five stars!
Stake is a well-known and respected online crypto gambling site that does many things right, but it could do a better job with its esports betting offer. But while its esports betting offer is a bit shaky, Stake is easily one of the best crypto casinos out there and worth a look; just make sure to approach gambling in moderation.
