Dominus

What is Dominus in Rocket League?

Dominus is a car model present in Rocket League. This car also represents one of the core body type hitbox and stat assortments. This one was released in August 2015 and was initially only unlockable through paid DLC. However, as of the present day, this car is unlockable through playing matches.

After the Blueprints update, the Dominus is now available for every Rocketer for free and should be in your account’s inventory. However, the painted variants of this car (Exotic rarity) were made available randomly in the Item Shop.

This car (aside from the octane) is perhaps the next most popular in the online community as a whole. You can see why with the wonderfully presented design. This car is clearly based on a real-life Pontiac GTO. Another example of an American muscle car present in Rocket League.

Car Statistics

As mentioned, this car represents a pre-set body type for the entire roster. Making it a trailblazer within the franchise. The community as a whole has taken to the dominus in droves and this is due to the stats it has to offer and the benefits they bring. Here’s a rundown of those now.

  • Length – 127,93
  • Width – 83,28
  • Height – 31,30
  • Surface area – 34.529
  • 0% boosting – 2,336
  • 100% Boosting – 2,031
  • Turning average – 2,22

The Dominus body type offers a number of attributes that are very desirable for players who like playing in behind the striker or in an attacking midfield role. These attributes allow for a number of beneficial opportunities.

One is the ability to strike from long range with great force and accuracy. Plus due to the lower frame, the ability to dribble while in the air is increased significantly. However what suffers is your ability to get in the air, to dribble on the ground, and tackles are less likely to be successful due to the low hitbox. Overall, it’s a rather accessible model that probably goes to show why the community has taken to it massively.

Best Dominus Designs

Straight Dominus: (Dominus painted titanium white)

This design looks like the kind of brutish muscle car that is synonymous with the Burnout series. It uses a red and black palette, a stratum badge decal and dynamic Hikari P5 infinite wheels to give an overall look that promises speed, aggression and relentlessness on the field.

  • Decal: Dominus: Stratum badge (primary color: red (anodized), accent color: black (glossy))
  • Wheels: Hikari P5: Infinite (painted grey)
  • Boost: Radiant Gush (painted titanium white)

This is topped off with a radiant gush boost trail which is painted titanium white, which contrasts well with the rich warm colours. This is a car for those that see themselves as a general on the pitch and love to put in a shift every game. Be sure to piece this one together for your garage.

Ice fury: (Dominus painted titanium white)

This design is for those that feel most at home when in water or laying by the seaside taking in the crashing waves. This one uses the dissolver decal to great effect, making the car look like it’s running through a body of water at speed. This is achieved through the ocean blue and white palette, plus the K2 wheels which are painted titanium white.

  • Decal: Dissolver (primary color: sky blue, accent color: white)
  • Wheels: K2 (painted titanium white)
  • Boost: Snowflakes

This is then finished off with the snowflake boost trail that instead of looking like cascading snow, acts as frothy sea water blasting out of your exhaust. If this sounds like the summer time vibe your looking for, then take this one to your next match.

Golden RLCS

This design uses a yellow and black palette with grey accents to give a unique, honeycomb-style design. This is achieved through the RLCS decal and the pulsing yellow zowie wheels.

  • Decal: Dominus: RLCS (painted grey, primary color: yellow (metallic pearl), accent color: grey (glossy))
  • Wheels: Zowie (no paint)
  • boost: Standard yellow

The design then simply uses the standard yellow boost trail to complete the piece. This one is vibrant, a little bit different and really stands out in matches, so be sure to try this one out if you get the chance.

Dominate In The Dominus

This car is a popular choice in the community and it’s easy to see why. The body type offers an ideal setup for an attacking-minded midfielder or shadow striker playstyle. The aerial dribbling and long shot and passing abilities all come together to offer a very viable playstyle.

Along with a plethora of unique and fresh decals to compliment the fantastic, Pontiac GTO inspired design. This car model is a wonderful addition to the roster and one that you’ll really need to give a go.
