Learn everything there is to know about the Mainframe decal in Rocket League!
Mainframe - What you need to know about the cleanest black market item in Rocket League
In this article we will look into the current value of the Mainframe. We will discuss its current price and the reason behind that. We will also discuss its history and what we expect from the future.
How to get the Mainframe in Rocket League?
The Mainframe is a Black Market decal that was initially released with the Zephyr Crate in July 2018.
Since then it has been added to other series. It is now also obtainable through a lot of other blueprints and series. More specifically Haunted Hallows series, Secret Santa series, Spring Fever series, RL Beach Blast series, Players Choice series 1 & Elevation series. It can also be found in many Golden Gift series. Other than that, it can be traded for with other players. The Mainframe has more recently been released in painted versions and is available in all colors except the new gold paint. It is one of the most expensive decals in painted version.
What is the current value of Mainframe?
- PC: 600 Rocket League credits ≈ 3$
- PlayStation: 600 Rocket League credits ≈ 3$
- Xbox: 1.200 Rocket League credits ≈ 3$
Usually, the different platforms have the same pattern. Either an item goes up, or down. This has surprisingly not been the case for the Mainframe. However, something that is the same for most black markets on all platforms is that they are dropping a lot in value. That is also the case on Playstation and PC for the Mainframe. The decal has lost around 50% value in a few years.
Unlike almost all other black markets, the Mainframe has increased in value on Xbox during the last few years. The Mainframe has gained approximately 50% on Xbox. This is most likely the result of the decal looking super cool. It is a very clean dynamic black market. This is very different from most black markets. That could be the very reason why the Mainframe has managed to outperform the rest on Xbox.
The differences can be a result of different aesthetic preferences on the different platforms, or simply the decal being undervalued/ overvalued.
What can we expect from the future?
The future for many black markets is not bright. Why is this the case?
As more black markets will be released the demand for each unique black market will drop, simply as a result of more choices. It is possible that the Mainframe is better off than most black markets so it might be a good investment in Rocket League. This is because it is arguably the cleanest black market decal visually speaking, and very different from most other black markets. This means it will be able to stand out from the crowd.
Even though the black market had different results during the last few years, we expect them to go in the same direction from now on, on all platforms. The ratio between most items is that the Xbox items are twice as expensive as PC & PS. This is currently the case now, and we think that means that platform preferences have aligned. We expect the Mainframe to hold its current value in the future.
What is the current value for painted variants of Mainframe?
In the end, we would like to shortly access the painted variants, which are only a few years old.
The painted variants have shared a similar fate to their regular variants on their respective platforms. This means the Mainframe on Xbox has gone up, and down on the other 2 platforms. However, an important note is that the grey Mainframe has absolutely spiked in value since it was removed from all series making it discontinued. It is currently one of the most expensive items in the game. It is sitting at 60.000 Rocket League credits on PC & PS. On Xbox, it is currently estimated to be worth around 120.000 Rocket League credits.
