What is Octane in Rocket League?
Octane is both a car model and body type present in Rocket League. This car was released in July 2015 and is the only original model in the game that was present in the game that Rocket League would spiritually succeed. This game was of course Super acrobatic rocket-powered battle cars.
This car is immediately available for the player to use as it is one of the four options present at the beginning of the game. Meaning there is no need to unlock this vehicle. It is also the default selection made for the player upon beginning the game.
This car is quite comfortably the most used car in both casual and competitive gameplay. Offering a well rounded and versatile playstyle that fits both avenues of the game.
The Octane, as mentioned, has huge popularity within the Rocket League community. This is due to the octane body types, well-rounded stats, and excellent hitbox qualities.
What does Hitbox mean in Rocket League?
When related to car body types, hitboxes are invisible parameters that surround the car frame. When the car’s hitbox collides with the hitbox that surrounds the ball, it allows the physics engine to act accordingly. Allowing for a realistic impact to occur in real-time.
Here is a quick guide of the Octane stats.
- LENGTH: 118,01
- WIDTH: 84,20
- HEIGHT: 36,16
- SURFACE AREA: 34.495
- TURNING AVERAGE: 2,18
- 0% BOOST SPEED: 2,323
- 100% BOOST SPEED: 1,967
With these stats and the octane hitbox, this means that the model provides some excellent benefits. The key highlights being the ability to tightly dribble, win aerial duels, and has a deceptively good shot impact as well. The octane body type is the perfect all-rounder which allows for pretty much any playstyle. Meaning you can chop and change your role on the team on the fly.
Within casual games, this is why it is a very popular choice. Yet also finds a lot of use in professional settings too. It’s an excellent choice whether you love to attack, defend, or tend goal. You can understand for this reason that this model is a default starter car for all players.
Decals – Octane
The octane being the most popular car on the entire roster has led to this model making an absolute cavalcade of decal options. If your car needs to be unique and personal to you, then the octane gives the most ability to do so and with some level of style too. Here is a list of the common decals to kick us off.
These are, by and large, the most normal list of decals within the common category. However, there is one that bucks that trend and that’s our pick of the lot. That one is Monstercat. This logo is synonymous with a music recording company that creates music for the game and indeed other high octane tracks. Here is the decal below:
Then we have the rare quality decals. Here they are listed below.
- Christmas tree
- Dragon Lord
- Gale fire

A wealth of options to choose from in the rare category. Giving you a chance to be retro, intimidating, humorous, sleek. The options give a variety of different vibes. Though if we were pressed to choose just one it would be Buzzkill. We love the comical hornet that is presented in the design. So if you want to sting like a bee on the field, zipping around at breakneck speed. Then Buzzkill is perhaps the one for you. Here is the decal so you can see for yourself:
Then let’s have a look at the very rare decals on offer for the octane. Here is the full list.
- Dot rush
- Tumbling blocks
- Ripped Cosmic
A decent selection of classy decals to choose from here. Though our choice of the lot is Tumbling blocks. It looks like a scene fresh from the retro game Qube. It’s a wonderful and nicely detailed design that isn’t too over the top or obnoxious. Here is a snapshot of the decal right here:
Then we have a further list of rare decals relating to the various esports teams within the Rocket League community. Here is a list of those.

PSG esports in our opinion looks fantastic, it’s a sophisticated look and it doubles up as a way to support the Paris based football team. We can’t show you the actual decal here due to copyrights but it’s worth to take a look at it in Rocket League.
