CS:GO Wallhack Commands: Everything you need to know
Anyone who has played Counter-Strike (especially non-Prime players) has heard of something called Wallhack (WH). But did you know that you can enable it with a single command in the Developer Console?
How does the Wallhack work?
Wallhack is a type of cheat that allows you to see your opponents through walls. Along with Aimbot, it is the most popular cheat used in CS:GO. However, it is not the most straightforward cheat to use, and many people get VAC Banned for it. Wallhack is extremely easy to spot on Overwatch (even by inexperienced players), especially when the player using it is constantly aiming through the wall.
This type of cheat was used in the first versions of Counter-Strike and is the primary choice of most cheaters in FPS games, as it gives more advantages than any other.
How to activate Wallhack with the Developer Console?
Not everyone knows that the Developer Console in CS:GO gives you the ability to enable legal Wallhack on custom servers. You can do it by using one of the sv_cheats commands — “r_drawothermodels 2”. The entire process looks as follows:
- Check your Game Settings to make sure that you can open your Developer Console
- Join the server where you want to enable Wallhack
- Open a Developer Console by pressing the tilde button on your keyboard (~)
- Type “sv_cheats 1” in your Developer Console and press Enter. That will enable the option to turn on legal cheats. Learn more about other sv_cheats commands here
- Type “r_drawothermodels 2” in your Developer Console and press Enter
- Done! Your legal Wallhack is now on. If you want to disable wallhack mode, type “r_drawothermodels 1”
You can’t use the Wallhack command (as well as the other sv_cheats commands) in the official matchmaking games. You can only use it on your custom servers, single-player mode, and some community servers with permissions for sv_cheats commands.
Alternative Wallhack command — mat_wireframe 1-4
Your alternative Wallhack command can also be mat_wireframe (1/2/3/4) — when enabled, you will display all game elements in the wireframe form. This is not a classic Wallhack, but it is an interesting command that allows you to see objects through walls. The mat_wireframe command offers 4 display options; here's what each of them looks like:
- mat_wireframe 1
- mat_wireframe 2
- mat_wireframe 3
- mat_wireframe 4
Skeleton Wallhack command
There is one more sv_cheats command that allows you to see more than you should — It’s enable_skeleton_draw 1. With this command enabled, the enemy's skeleton lights up blue and is visible through any obstacles.
How can you benefit using the Wallhack command?
If you want to Counter-Strike at the highest level, you will definitely need to spend some time practicing with your team. As it turns out, the Wallhack command can come in handy when honing your skills; e.g., when you want to practice pre-firing or wall-banging popular positions.
Just ask one of your teammates to set up in a popular position in the current meta-game and look for options on how you can counter it by seeing your opponent's exact positioning and character model. This kind of practice can take hours, but it can win you many matchmaking games.
However, if you're not so much into competition and more of a casual player — using the Wallhack command as well as various other sv_cheats commands can be great fun to play with friends on custom servers. Setting up, for example, a sparring match with Wallhack enabled for both teams can be an exciting option to loosen up and play Counter-Strike in an entirely different way than before.
Can you get banned for using the Wallhack command?
There is no such option to get banned for using any sv_cheats commands. Valve's Anti Cheat (VAC) system accurately checks all the server settings. If the server you are playing on allows using sv_cheats commands, you can rest assured that you will not be banned.
Third-party software Wallhack
The case is different when you use third-party software to achieve the Wallhack effect. Software programs that allow wallhacking usually cost about $20, and you can buy them from independent developers on various internet forums. Even if you think you have high-quality software that protects you from being banned, remember that Valve's Anti-Cheat system gets constant updates. Thus, you may be punished for using any cheats much later (e.g., a year) after using them. VAC bans are permanent and restrict access to your Steam account on many levels by banning you from playing on official Valve servers or banning you from trading items and not having any access to your inventory.
Now you know all about the Developer Console commands that can enable Wallhack in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. We hope you'll use this knowledge to your advantage and not think of using illegal Wallhack or other cheats on official CS:GO servers.
