How Will CS2 (CSGO)’s Release Affect Skin Prices and Investments?

Counter-Strike 2 has mainly brought two things into the CS skin market:

  1. New engine and improved graphics that make skins look more visually appealing. With the enhanced visuals of these skins, the demand for them will increase, leading to increased prices.

  2. The new game has brought in more players. With more players comes more demand for these finite skins. So, the supply of skins will decrease, leading to increased prices.

Considering these factors, we think it is a perfect time to get your feet dirty and try investing in CS2 (CSGO) skins.

Is It Worth Investing In CS2 (CSGO) Skins?

Are CS2 (CSGO) skins worth investing in? Yes, mainly skins that benefit from the lighting update.

As we brought up earlier, the visuals of certain CS2 (CSGO) skins have been enhanced. Most notably, knife skins have received the most considerable benefits from the new graphics. We think investing in these skins can be an excellent idea:

Bright-Colored Knife Skins

Knife skins with bright colors like the Fade look much better in CS2 (CSGO) than CSGO because of the lighting update. Fade skins look shinier and more appealing in the new game, which has increased the demand for these skins in the past year.

Flip Knife Fade

In the graph, the Flip Knife Fade was priced at $542 in October 2022. You can see a massive spike in price in March 2023, when CS2 (CSGO) was announced. In October 2023, the Flip Knife fade was valued at $1,210, more than double what it was a year ago.

Other knife skins that look cooler in CS2 (CSGO) include the Tiger Tooth and Doppler.

Weapon Skins With Bright Colors

Aside from knives, some bright-coloured weapon skins have also seen a significant increase in value. Skins like the Prinstream, Vulcan, and Blue Phosphor are great examples of these skins.

So, if you want to invest in CS2 (CSGO) skins, we recommend looking into skins that benefit from the lighting update, like the examples we’ve provided above.

Printstream

However, keep in mind that you have already missed the price spike. When investing in these skins, you are banking on the supply of these skins decreasing since more players are buying them, which can increase their value in the long term.

Is It Worth Investing In CS2 (CSGO) Cases, Stickers, and Souvenirs?

Though weapon skins can be good choices to invest in, not everyone can splurge hundreds to thousands of dollars on CS2 (CSGO) investments. So, these players look into buying smaller CS2 (CSGO) items like Weapon Cases, Stickers, and Souvenir Packages.

Cases

Are Cases worth investing in? Yes, for the long term, but only Rare Cases.

If you’re aware of how many cases are opened in a single day, you’ll understand that CS2 (CSGO) cases play a vital role in the CS2 (CSGO) market.

CS2 (CSGO) Case

Cases have been increasing in value for the past few years mainly because:

  • Almost a million cases are opened daily, leading to very high demand

  • Valve has made case drops rarer, decreasing supply speed

We think Rare Cases can be the best CS2 (CSGO) cases to begin investing in. As the name suggests, these cases have extremely low odds of dropping, so the supply for these cases has been decreasing for a long time.

However, investing in cases is a long-term investment, as it could take a few years for the supply of these cases to come near the breaking point, which is when you can sell it for the highest.

Examples of the best CS2 (CSGO) Rare Cases include Prisma, Danger Zone, Spectrum, Glove, Gamma, Chroma, Breakout Cases and more.

Stickers and Sticker Capsules

Are Stickers and Sticker Capsules worth investing in? It's quite risky, but only invest in stickers of professional teams and players.

Another CS2 (CSGO) investment you can make without a lot of capital is related to Stickers and Sticker Capsules. For those of you unfamiliar, some of the most expensive CS2 (CSGO) stickers have reached the $60,000 mark, but these aren’t the stickers we can afford.

The stickers worth investing in are Major stickers, which are stickers of professional players and teams that qualified to Valve’s Major tournaments, such as the 2023 Paris Major and 2021 Antwerp Major.

Stickers

You need to have knowledge about these teams and players because we’re looking to invest in team stickers that are not likely to make it to another CS2 (CSGO) Major. Since we’re not expecting them to qualify, they will not have any more stickers of them produced in the game, lowering the supply. Also, investing in stickers of retired players can be a great idea, too.

For example, the two most expensive stickers in the game are the iBUYPOWER and Titan Holo stickers from Katowice 2014. These two teams are no longer competing in CS2 (CSGO), so there will not be any new stickers of these teams in the future.

Souvenir Packages

Are Souvenir Packages worth investing in? No, the odds of unboxing a Covert is unfairly low.

Players can receive Souvenir Packages for watching matches from Major tournaments. These packages can be unboxed like cases and can give you skins. We’re sure all of you know about the Souvenir AWP Dragon Lore, one of the most expensive skins in CS2 (CSGO), which can only be obtained from these Souvenir Packages.

Souvenir AWP Dragon Lore

However, the odds of unboxing a Red skin from packages are highly unfair. For reference, the odds of unboxing a knife in CS2 (CSGO) is around 1 in 400 cases. However, the odds of unboxing a Covert from a souvenir package is 1 in 3906.

The odds of unboxing the best item in a Souvenir Package are way too low, so nobody wants to open them. The demand for Souvenir Packages is not going to increase any time soon.
