Frankly, it's not easy to find this information, and we had to dig deep to find the answers that we could share with our readers (we only play TBC Classic). Fortunately, we were successful, so now we can reveal the up-to-date information to anyone interested. So stick with us, and you'll find out the download size of World Of Warcraft (all expansions) in no time.

Where Can I Play World Of Warcraft?

You can play World of Warcraft exclusively on a PC (Microsoft Windows and macOS). This applies to any WoW expansion ever released and, most likely, to any future expansion as well. You’ll need to pay a monthly subscription to play these games, but World Of Warcraft: Shadowlands features a free trial that you can play until level 20. World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade Classic subscription is included in the World of Warcraft: Shadowlands subscription, so you won’t have to pay twice.

What Is The File Size Of The World Of Warcraft Shadowlands?

The download size for the World Of Warcraft Shadowlands is around 76.7 GB. You’ll also need to consider around 300 MB of additional size for the Battle.net desktop app.

What Is The File Size Of The World Of Warcraft TBC Classic?

The download size of TBC Classic is significantly smaller, around 3.53 GB. TBC Classic is that small-sized because this expansion has a considerably smaller world and much less content than Shadowlands. Furthermore, this is a remake of The Burning Crusade, so textures and other assets aren't that massive, making this expansion so compact.

The Burning Crusade Classic Is Severer, While The Shadowlands Has More To Offer

It is not that simple to answer which expansion you should play, as these two are incomparable, even though they are both based on the Warcraft lore. Since the O. G. The Burning Crusade was released in 2007, Blizzard Entertainment has released seven expansions that have entirely transformed the game. Both Shadowlands and TBC have pros and cons, so let's mention some of them.

1

First of all, if you deeply care about the social aspect of World Of Warcraft, this is where TBC triumphs. Somehow, players are much more bonded in this expansion since it's much more challenging, and playing in groups will certainly make things much more comfortable for everyone. On the other hand, if you prefer soloing your quests and whatnot, then Shadowland is for you. While The Burning Crusade offers the right pace (which some players may call slow) in which you can explore the vast world, each post-Cataclysm expansion has kinda lost the exploration part and focused on leveling up the hero as fast as possible, offering more "casual" gameplay experience (if that’s even possible in WoW).

Because of that, many WoW veterans have complained about how easy Shadowland is, and they are absolutely right. Unless you are a total noob without any previous MMORPG background, you won't have a rough patch in Shadowlands. However, this is not the case with The Burning Crusade, which feels more like a Dark Souls compared to Shadowlands when it comes to difficulty. Any mob can completely obliterate your hero unless you're cautious, so that's another thing to consider.

Then there are system requirements. While any modern PC (even those with integrated graphics) can run The Burning Crusade Classic without any issues, this is not the case with the Shadowlands, which has much stricter PC requirements. So if you have a substandard PC, the choice is straightforward here.

In the end, it all falls down to personal preferences, but one thing is for sure - whichever expansion you decide to play, get ready to be immersed entirely and spend endless time in Azeroth, both IRL and game time. You have been warned.

Still, if you don't like challenging gameplay and you're new to World of Warcraft, Shadowlands will be perfect for you. Otherwise, stick to the TBC Classic and reminisce about the golden days of gaming when your biggest worry in life was whether you'd be able to complete Karazhan with your guildmates or not.
