Lantern is a new light source block in Minecraft and it was introduced in the Minecraft 1.14 Nether update version. While the functionality remains like Torches, Lantern is better due to its appearance and you can even hang them in the ceiling. To craft Lantern, you may need to go mine a little bit for some Irons.

How to craft Lantern in Minecraft

#1 Collect 8x Iron Nugget

The most efficient way to get Iron Nugget is to craft 1x Iron Ingot into 9x Iron Nugget. But you need to go mining to find Iron Ores and smelt them first.

If you already have Irons armors and tools, smelt them in a Furnace to get 1x Iron Nugget.

Piglins in the Nether can make a trade for 9-36x Iron Nugget with 1x Gold Ingot.

The final way to get Iron Nugget is to look for looted chests in Bastion remnants, ruined portals, shipwrecks, and villages. They have a high chance to contain 1-18x Iron Nugget.

#12 Collect 1x Torch

You can craft 4x Torch by using 1x Stick and 1x Coal. Stick can be easily crafted by using Planks and Coal can be found across the mountain.

Torches can be generated naturally in some structures like mineshafts, villages, strongholds, igloos, woodland mansions, and pillager outposts.

Alternatively, you can get Torch by finding looted chests in the villages or mineshafts. They have a chance to contain 1-16x Torch.

#3 Finish off crafting a Lantern

When you have 8x Iron Nugget and 1x Torch, right-click the crafting table and put the Torch in the center, then surround it with 8x Iron Nugget to craft 1x Lantern.

Another way to get Lantern is to trade with the Librarian village. They sell 1x Lantern for 1x Emerald.
