When you have 1x Block fo Raw Copper, press E to open your inventory and put it in the crafting grid to craft 9x Raw Copper.

Another efficient way to get Raw Copper is to go mining underground. You will find a lot of Copper ores generated all over the cave. Mining them with a pickaxe will drop 2-5x Raw Copper, and up to 20x Raw Copper if you have a Fortune III enchantment.
