Best Sites To Trade Dota 2 Items [Each one Tested]

We’ve tested dozens of Dota 2 trading sites and have shortened the list to four. We ranked these four websites based on reputation, item variability, user experience, customer support, and functionality. Without further ado, here’s the list of websites!

DMarket

DMarket is a very reputable Dota 2 marketplace and is easily the go-to option to trade Dota 2 skins.

DMarket isn’t my number one pick for selling Dota 2 items (Skinport is), but no other website gives a better trading experience than DMarket. I have incredibly high praise for the website, as it provides users with fair prices, a straightforward interface, and speedy processing times.

I love that though DMarket is focused on buying and selling skins, it is one of the few websites with its own “Trading” section. Here, you can put the Dota items you want to exchange and filter skins around the price range. If you’re off by a few dollars, you can add your website balance to cover the gap. You can also use our code, “TGG”, for a special bonus!

If the item you’re putting up is more expensive than what you’re trading for, the extra funds will be sent to your DMarket wallet. You can use your website balance for future transactions, which will be helpful since I guarantee that you will continue using the site after you’ve tried it!

However, many items on DMarket are under Steam’s 7-day trade lock, which can prevent you from making instant trades. The website transparently tells you how long the item is locked and even prompts a warning on your screen if you selected a locked item. Still, with DMarket having over 100,000+ Dota 2 items listed on their site, I bet you can easily find another copy of the same item that is not locked.

Another thing I like about DMarket’s trading section is the “Auto-Select” tool. Once you put up an item for trade, you can click the “Auto-Select” buttonto make the website put items that match your item’s price. You can re-roll as many times as you’d like, giving you inspiration on what items to get.

Loot Farm

Second on the list is Loot Farm, a website my friend introduced me to two years ago.

One thing I don’t like about Loot Farm is their website design and interface. Though the site is very functional, it looks very outdated. Loot Farm looks like it hasn’t changed the website design since 2015. Still, I have used Loot Farm before, and it got the job done; no problem.

I recommended Loot Farm to my friend for the first time the other day, and he told me he was rewarded with a $5 bonus for being a new user. If you’ve never used Loot Farm before, this is a perfect opportunity to get a few free bucks!

When I was trading items on Loot Farm the other day, I noticed that I had a 2% trading bonus. My Crystal Maiden Arcana was given a price of $27.99, but with the 2% bonus, it was actually valued at $28.54. Though this example doesn’t make the bonus sound like much, it adds up, especially when you’re buying the most expensive Dota 2 items that can add up to thousands of dollars.

However, we’ll give Loot Farm minus points because their prices are much higher than those of DMarket and Skinport. From what I’ve seen, Loot Farm has the highest item prices on the list, so keep that in mind and do your research before trading on this website!

Like DMarket, you can also use your Loot Farm wallet balance in case you lack funds for a trade. One part about Loot Farm I love is their deposit bonuses. When you want to deposit funds to their website, you can get bonuses ranging from 25% to 35%, which I found mind-blowing.

Reddit

Reddit is a website that serves as a network of communities. You can utilize the website to find other Dota 2 traders.

On Reddit, you can join Dota 2 trading communities to connect with other traders. I suggest joining the “Dota2Trade” subreddit, which has 50,000 members.

Typically, any other subreddit will not have too many rules. But you will have to go through a lot of Dota2Trade rules before making a trading post. Though I found the rules super lengthy and annoying the first time I joined, I realized that these rules are necessary to keep the subreddit clean and functional.

On the Dota2Trade subreddit, you can post trade offers. In the post title, you will mention what you have and what you want for it. Since other people are also posting, you can look through peoples' posts to see if anyone’s items interest you.

If you are interested in someone else’s items, you can leave a comment on their post or add them on Steam. Usually, the poster’s Steam profile or Steam trade link URL is linked in the post.

Remember that trading on Reddit means you are dealing with real people instead of a website. From personal experience, I know most traders on Reddit are knowledgeable people who will usually have a good idea of prices. However, some people take advantage of naive users and may try to scam them. So, if you want to trade on Reddit, here are some things I want you to know:

• Don’t lowball anyone too hard.

• Perform price checks so you don’t become a victim of a lowball offer.

• Only perform trades through Steam; don’t open any suspicious links!

• Use a middleman if you are performing cash trades.

Still, the most significant advantage of direct trading, as opposed to trading on websites, is you will have to pay zero fees, and item prices are not marked up. Also, instead of trading with fixed prices, trading on Reddit gives you the ability to negotiate with your trading partner on Reddit.

Skinport

Skinport is my personal favorite website to buy Dota 2 items, but I’ve put it fourth on the list because you cannot trade your Dota 2 items directly.

Unlike the other websites on the list, to “exchange” Dota 2 items on Skinport, you must first sell your item for their balance on their website and use that balance to buy your desired skin. So, you’ll have to perform some extra steps when trading items on Skinport, which is why we’ve given the site a lot of minus points for this list. Despite all this, we still chose to include Skinport because the website is too good to be left out. 

Since you’ll have to sell your skins first to “trade” on Skinport, I bring the unfortunate news that you will be met with a 12% sales fee, which really stinks. However, the skin prices on Skinport are the cheapest among the entire list! Items on Skinport are so cheap because most items are discounted. These discounts range from 9% to 29%, saving you a lot of bucks when trading for new items. You can also save more money using our affiliate link.

Skinport also provides users with a lot of data about every item in their shop, such as pricing history, fluctuations, and trade lock durations. This information helps you make educated decisions and not get ripped off. I regard Skinport’s user interface very highly, and users who are trying Skinport for the first time will have no trouble getting things done.

I think Skinport is the best Dota 2 marketplace website, but the biggest drawback of Skinport is you cannot trade skins for another directly. The trading process on Skinport becomes lengthy and will make regular users such as myself lazy.
