Carpets in Minecraft are decorative blocks made out of wool that serve one purpose, to cover the ugly woodblock flooring. Carpets come in a variety of colors, so you will always find a carpet color that goes with the interior of your build. Also, carpets are a widely used block in farms, especially on farms where you don’t want mobs to spawn. As carpet isn’t considered an entire block, the mobs can’t actually spawn on the carpets.

How to craft carpet in Minecraft

#1 Acquiring wool

Wool in Minecraft can only be acquired by shearing a sheep. You can shear the sheep by using a pair of shears that can be crafted using iron ingots in the game. Simply use the shears on the sheep, and you’ll get wool. Depending upon the color of the sheep, the wool color will also be different, so if you want a certain colored carpet, make sure you dye the sheep before you shear it.

#2 Crafting carpet

Once you have all the necessary items, simply toss them up on the crafting table by the recipe given above. You'll get your very own carpets in Minecraft.

Now spending upon the color of wool you use, you’ll get that color of the carpet. But if you only manage to get white wool in a while shearing the sheep, you can dye the carpet by using 8 white carpets and the dye of your choice, as shown in the image above.

Carpets can be dyed in every color that is available in the game.
