String can be found in looted chests in Dungeons, Bastion Remnants, Desert Temples, Pillager Outposts, and Woodland Mansions. They have a medium chance to contain 1-8x String.

There are a lot of ways to obtain String but they’re not that efficient like going fishing, and gifts from tamed cats. Alternatively, you can go to the Nether dimension and trade 1x Gold Ingot with the Piglins for 3-9x String.

When you have 4x String, press E to open your inventory and put the string in the 2x2 shape to craft 1x White Wool.
