Iron ingots are used extensively in Minecraft. You can obtain Iron Ingots by smelting Iron ore, Deepslate Iron ore, and Raw Iron as well. You can also get Iron Ingots by combining 9 Iron Nuggets or by using 1 Iron Block.

Iron Ingots can be found as loot in Dungeons, Mineshafts, Bastion Remnants, Buried Treasure, Desert Temples, End cities, Nether Fortresses, etc.

Redstone dust can be easily obtained by mining Redstone ore. Redstone Dust is a mineral that is used to transmit Redstone signals in Minecraft.

Once you have the necessary items in your inventory. Simply put the in the crafting table as shown in the recipe above, and you'll get a brand new Compass. Naturally, the Compass will point towards your spawn point in the world you’re standing in. If you want to set it to some other place, use a lodestone.

A Compass can also be enchanted with the Curse of vanishing enchantment.
