Everything you need to craft a Piston in Minecraft
A piston in Minecraft is what its name suggests, a Redstone-powered block that will open and close the rear end when a pulse is sent to it. A piston can not only push block but can also push players and mobs which are in front of it. A piston is widely used in Redstone contraptions and has a sticky variant that sticks to blocks.
Here are the items you’ll need to craft a Piston:
- 1xIron Ingots
- 3xPlanks
- 4xCobblestone
- Crafting Table
How to craft a Piston in Minecraft
#1 Acquiring Iron Ingots
Iron is similar to any other ore in Minecraft; it can be mined in the underground of the overworld. Then the iron ore or raw iron can be smelted to get iron ingots which we will be using in our recipe. Iron ingots can also be crafted using iron blocks and iron nuggets. In addition to that, iron ingots are also dropped when you slay an Iron Golem.
#2 Crafting wooden planks
Wooden planks are easily crafted using some logs of any tree type. Simply toss them up on the crafting table, and you’ll get some wooden planks.
#3 Mining Cobblestone
Cobblestone is readily available on the overworld. Simply mine any stone block you can find, and on miming it, you’ll be left with cobblestone.
#4 Mining Redstone Dust
Redstone is available to be mined in the underground. Once you find a Redstone ore, simply mining it will give you Redstone dust.
#5 Crafting Pistons
Pistons in Minecraft can be crafted by following the above-given recipe. Simply put all the items by the recipe on the crafting table to get a piston in Minecraft. This piston can then be powered by Redstone pulses sent to it directly.
Pistons are used in many mob farms, doors, and other Redstone contraptions.
A Piston cannot push more than 12 blocks; it is one of its limitations.
