In Minecraft, teleportation works by transporting a player, object or mob to a different location in the Minecraft world.

When you enable cheats it allows you to run game commands which in turn will allow you to teleport yourself and other objects.

How can you Teleport in Java and Education Edition?

To teleport in the Java edition of Minecraft, it involves typing in the command in the chat window menu. And much like the Java edition of Minecraft, the education edition works in the same way when it comes to teleport commands.

An important thing to make a note of is to be aware of the x,y,z coordinates. You can see these when you press F3 on your PC.

The x coordinate is East/West, y is the vertical coordinates and z is North/South. Using coordinates can help if you are trying to move to a very specific location.

Remember that you do not want to teleport yourself into the ground.

To avoid this from happening, always add ‘true’ at the end of your command. The command will cancel if there are no solid blocks to where you are teleporting to.

What is the Teleport command?

The steps to use the teleport command are as follows:

  1. Press T on your keyboard to open the chat window (this is visible at the lower left corner of the screen)
  2. Type in / to open the console menu
  3. Type in /teleport or /tp

To teleport a player to these coordinates, simply add in their IGN after typing in the /tp command.

To teleport in Minecraft PE you can use the teleport command like before with a few changes to it.

All your commands will need to be typed in the menu that appears when you tap on the chat icon. You can find this at the top left corner of your screen.

The steps to use the teleport command in PE are:

  1. Tap the chat bar
  2. Type / in the chat window

On console, you are likely going to be playing the Bedrock edition of Minecraft.

Remember to enable cheats when you are creating your Minecraft world. Do this by heading to the host menu and ensuring that the ‘Host Privileges’ option is enabled.

Using the x y z coordinates here’s how you can teleport in Minecraft on a console:

  2. Type /tp or /teleport
  3. Type in your name or a player’s name followed by the x y z coordinates in the chat menu: /tp @PlayerB 1 5 87

Add ‘True’ at the end of your command.

To summon something else, just replace the [type= ] with a mob of choice.

You can also send them over to your friends by replacing the x y z coordinates with their in game name to make them the target entity.

Can you teleport without using the TP command?

Yes,you can teleport without using any commands-however there are few terms and conditions that apply.

Using an Ender Pearl

Ender pearls are dropped from Endermen and can teleport you and you can make an Eye of Ender with them.

To use them, simply hold and throw. You can be teleported 30-45 blocks from your current position.

Teleporting with these means you will take fall damage of 5 so armour up before your throw!

Using a Chorus Fruit

A Chorus fruit is a type of fruit that you can find at the End.

Eat this and you will move 8 blocks in any direction after. You can eat these if your hunger bar is full and it can teleport you into solid blocks.
