Close The Discord Application

Later on, we will make changes to the Discord app settings in your computer. So, we must ensure that the app is fully closed, as we will restart Discord later.

On your taskbar, right-click on the Discord app and click on Quit.

Go to the Apple Menu (upper-left corner of your screen)

Next, we're going to go to the Apple Menu. You can find the Apple menu in the top-left corner of your screen. The icon is the Apple logo.

After clicking on the Apple Menu, a drop down menu will appear.

Click on System Preferences

In the drop down menu that shows up, click "System Preferences", placed below "About This Mac".

Go to Security & Privacy

When you open your System Preferences, you will be greeted with many system settings.

Don't get confused, and click on the "Security & Privacy" option, which is available in the top half of the menu.

Go to the Privacy section

Now that you've made it to Security & Privacy, you will notice four sections at the top: General, FileVault, Firewall, and Privacy. 

We're going to click on Privacy.

Click on the "lock" icon to make changes

Before doing anything, we must click on the "lock" icon at the bottom-left corner. This lock has to be unlocked for us to make changes, so we will click on it once.

Out of all the options available on the left, select "Microphone"

A long list of options will be available on the left side of the menu. Keep scrolling until you see the Microphone option.

Below the text "allow the apps below to access your microphone", look for Discord

On the right side of the menu, you will see "Allow the apps below to access your microphone", where all your applications will be listed.

Keep scrolling until you find the Discord application.

Check the box next to Discord, then click on the "lock" again to make changes

If your Mac has not granted Discord permission to your microphone, the box next to it should be unchecked. So, to give Discord access to your mic, all you need to do is check the box next to Discord

Once you've checked the box, don't forget to click on the lock again to save your changes.

Restart your Mac and relaunch Discord

The final step is to restart your Mac so it can apply all the changes. When the restart is complete, relaunch Discord to see if your microphone is working in your Discord voice settings. You can try sending a voice message on Discord as a test.
