What Are The Worst Maps in Call of Duty [TOP 5]

1 /5

Stonehaven (Ghosts)

Let's start with the worst Call of Duty map ever, Stoneheaven, which is also one of the biggest maps in Call of Duty. Oh boy, is there really so much to talk about? Like, this map is terrible... but alright, if you don't get it, let me tell you why it's so bad.

First off, while the map might look good visually, that's not enough to win over players. In gaming, gameplay is key, and Stonehaven falls short here.

The main issue is its design. If you're not sniping, playing on this map can feel almost pointless. The vast open spaces make it hard to hide or maneuver without being easily spotted and taken out by snipers. This makes for a frustrating experience if you prefer a more close-combat or varied playstyle.

So, in my view, Stonehaven is definitely at the bottom of the list when it comes to enjoyable maps. The lack of hiding spots and the dominance of sniper gameplay limit the fun and strategy for a lot of players, making it a less appealing choice.

Downturn (Modern Warfare 3)

When we compare Downturn to other maps, some might argue it's the best because it's not as disliked as others. Yet, it's generally not a player favorite. This map, featured in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, receives criticism for its confusing layout. Even after multiple plays, figuring out your location is tough due to its poor design.

The concept of battling on Wall Street might seem appealing, but the map falls short for Call of Duty standards. Players find it frustrating because of its fragmented bank, underground tunnels, and buildings that fail to create strategic areas for team play. The main reason to rank this map higher is for Kill Confirmed, a mode that suits solo players looking to roam and score eliminations.

3 /5

Carrier (Black Ops 2)

Carrier from Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is a map that missed the mark for many players. It's often mentioned as a less enjoyable part of the game. The main issues with this map include too many places to hide, poorly placed flags, and a handful of bugs. Despite having a promising concept, it didn't pan out as expected.

When playing on Carrier, it's easy to understand the frustrations. The cover options and obstacles don't really enhance the gameplay and tend to make it less enjoyable instead. Additionally, if your team falls behind early in the game, making a comeback is extremely difficult, leading to unbalanced matches.

4 /5

Strikezone (Ghosts)

Strikezone from Call of Duty: Ghosts finds its place as one of the less liked maps in the series. Despite the many great maps in Call of Duty: Ghosts, Strikezone stands out for the wrong reasons. Its main issue is the unpredictable spawning, which can be confusing. Moreover, the map design discourages varied combat styles, pushing players towards using SMGs and sentry guns almost exclusively.

The map's look and feel are also disappointing. It lacks visual appeal and has a design that doesn't offer a good gameplay experience. Between its uninteresting aesthetics and flawed gameplay mechanics, Strikezone is considered by many, including myself, as one of the worst maps in CoD history. Its layout, with a confusing mix of areas and paths, makes it hard to control the map effectively.

Introducing a new player to Call of Duty on the Strikezone map might turn them off from the game entirely. For many players and me, Strikezone is a definite no-go.

5 /5

Wasteland (Modern Warfare 3)

Wasteland in Modern Warfare 3 is often mentioned as one of the least favorite maps, far from being considered good. As the name might hint, it's criticized for feeling like a barren wasteland, especially when compared to the other, more engaging maps in the game.

The map offers limited cover, features an underground chamber that doesn't provide much strategic value due to its openness to grenade attacks, and is set in an exposed field in Chernobyl, making it hard to navigate safely.

Movement across the map feels restricted, and the overall design leaves much to be desired. Asking what makes a map unenjoyable, Wasteland could be the answer, offering little to no redeeming qualities.

Although Modern Warfare 3 has one of the best campaigns of Call of Duty, it doesn't seem like it could deliver what was wanted on this map. That's why Wasteland is the worst map that you really don't want to play.
