10 Best Anime PSP Games [Ranked]

1 /10

Dragon Ball Z Tenkaichi Tag Team

God, looking back at it, I drained so many batteries just playing Dragon Ball Z Tenkaichi Tag Team. If I could, I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat.

DBZ Tenkaichi Tag Team PSP

Dragon Ball Z Tenkaichi Tag Team is probably my all-time favorite Dragon Ball game. Come to think of it, it might even be the best Dragon Ball game ever made. I loved the fact that I was able to put my favorite characters from the show against each other. Looking back, this game is probably the reason I such at math now. While the other kids were doing equations, I was fighting Freeza. Time well spent if you ask me.

2 /10

Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Impact

In the 2000s, Naruto was all the rage. So when Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Impact came out, every kid wanted to have it. It was one of the best Naruto games at the time after all.

Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Impact PSP

Looking back at it now, Ultimate Ninja Impact is probably one of the best anime fighting games, and certainly one of the best anime PSP games. The game isn't your traditional fighting game. Sure, it had fighting game elements. What was unique about it is that it took inspiration from the Dynasty Warrior series of games. Something that none of the other anime fighting games did. If you ask me, that is why it's one of the best anime games.

3 /10

Initial D Street Stage

There are two things that I really like. Racing games and Eurobeat. Coincidentally, this game has both.

Initial D Street Stage PSP

Initial D Street Stage is probably "the anime game" for me. I just love everything about it. There's something about street racing in Japan in the 80s that is so charming to me. Everything from the cars, to the fashion of the time, to even the music I find irresistible. That is why this is one of my favorite PSP anime games. Sure, it has its quirks, but what game doesn't? It's fun on the go, and that's enough for me.

4 /10

Persona 3 Portable

The Persona series is such an interesting series of games. You can easily spend hours in it. Thankfully, Atlus made a PSP version of the game too.

Persona 3 Portable PSP

I have a special relationship with the Persona games. They're not my favorite games ever, but I constantly keep coming back to them whenever there's a new release. Persona 3 probably has one of the longest campaigns in video game history, so the ability to experience it on the go is pretty nice. Persona 3 Portable is definitely one of the best PSP anime games, as very few PSP games allow you to experience a deep and rich campaign as Persona 3 does.

5 /10

Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus

I'll be honest. I wasn't a fan of the Guilty Gear games until recently. This game gave me an incentive to bust out my old PSP again, and I'm glad I did.

Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus PSP

Man, what a game Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus is. It's a mouthful to pronounce, but who pronounces the full name anyway? I see now why people consider this one of the best anime fighting games of all time. The best part is that it's portable, which means you can duel your friends anywhere. Sadly, nobody plays this anymore. A real shame, as it's one of the best anime PSP games out there.

6 /10

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex

If you're a fan of the anime, then this is probably one of the best anime game adaptations out there.

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex PSP

The most memorable thing about Stand Alone Complex for me is the music. The game featured some of the best video game music I had ever heard. At the time, that was really impressive, considering it was a PSP game and all. There weren't that many shooters on the PSP (not any good ones at least). So in that regard, this game is quite the gem. If you haven't already, it's definitely worth going back and trying it out.

7 /10

Yu GI Oh GX Tag Force

Yu GI Oh was in my top 3 anime growing up. When it finally ended and was replaced by GX, my heart broke. GX could never fulfill the shoes that the original show left. But hey, at least the PSP game is great.

Yu Gi Oh GX Tag Force PSP

Even though I don't like the anime itself, I can't deny that this is one of the best Yu Gi Oh games of all time. The beauty of Yu Gi Oh is that you can take the decks anywhere and play with your friends at all times. Tag Force allowed you to do just that, but digitally. That is why I consider it one of the best anime games. It's fun, and it saves you space. What's not to love about it?

8 /10

Danganronpa Trigger Happy Havoc

For me, Danganronpa Trigger Happy Havoc is one of the coolest video game names of all time. I don't know what it is about it, I just love it.

Danganronpa Trigger Happy Havoc PSP

The game itself is a masterpiece. If you're a fan of the anime, then you'll definitely love it. Admittedly, the game is rather short. That isn't necessarily bad, however, as it's quite fun to speedrun it. I've even done it a few times myself. It's a relatively "chill" experience, at least compared to some of the other games on this list. Great for if you want to unwind while traveling somewhere.

9 /10

Sword Art Online: Infinity Moment

It probably wouldn't be an understatement to claim that SAO was the biggest anime when it was released. I was quite sad to see how it progressively got worse as the seasons went on, but what can you do?

SAO Infinity Moment PSP

You can play Sword Art Online: Infinity Moment. That's what you can do. The anime itself might have ended up being a disappointment in the end, but the game itself is a classic. As far as anime games are concerned, it's arguably one of the best anime PSP games in existence. And it's for sure the best PSP RPG out there. So long as you're a fan of JRPGs that is. Definitely worth a playthrough if you haven't already.

10 /10

Fate/Extra

Fate/Extra came relatively late in the PSP's life cycle. That being said, it fully utilized the PSP's capabilities, pushing its boundaries to places we had never seen before.

Fate/Extra PSP

In my opinion, Fate/Extra still holds up to this very day. Hell, it's even comparable to some of the Nintendo Switch games that come out nowadays. The game utilizes a turn-based action point system, which I always like seeing. It's simple, yet challenging enough to keep you engaged at all times. There really aren't any bad things to say about Fate/Extra, it's just an all-around great game.
