Each season in R6S has been filled with new content and surprises that every die-hard game fan looks forward to. Whether it's grinding your ranks or looking to enjoy the seamless skins and uniforms available in the battle pass, a new season is a fresh start for everyone to wipe the slate clean.

What Is a Season in RB6?
A season in Rainbow Six is equivalent to a major update in the game that introduces new content and improves the game's overall gameplay and flow. What’s more, your rank gets reset at the beginning of each season, and you have to grind the old-fashioned way to regain the crown you were dethroned of and maybe even reach higher heights!
Rainbow Six Siege releases four seasons in a year, and in each season, Ubisoft introduces a new operator to the game that can initially be purchased only through the battle pass at first. After a while, you can buy it with the in-game currency called renown which is earned through playing different game modes in RB6.

Every season, the game also introduces a new game event that lasts for a limited time. The purpose is to divert the players' attention to a more entertaining environment where they can just have fun with their buddies without sweating, which they often forget to do in ranked matches.
As far as the pro league is concerned, each season hosts an event called a Major, which teams fight to qualify for in their respective regions. Out of the four seasons, the ongoing season during January-February also hosts the SI tournament, which happens once a year.

What Does a Season End in R6 Mean?
The end of a season in Rainbow Six implies the beginning of a new one. Here is everything you should be looking forward to in a season!
Rank Reset
As mentioned previously, your rank in rainbow six is reset, and the new season is a chance to reach even higher heights. Your rank badge gets is taken from you, and you’ll have to play ten placement games to get calibrated in a rank.
Be mindful of not messing up your placement games since they’re the easiest way for you to reach higher ranks since you’ll get more MMR than usual for a while.

New Battle Pass
The Batllepass in each season contains 100 tiers and each one has exclusive rewards for you to flex later into the game. Since Operation Crystal Guard, six siege has started to add Exotic Skins in the game which is a brand new concept introduced into the FPS shooter. Moreover, you’ll have access to some of the greatest cosmetics to decorate your operators and weapons.
The Batllepass also contains many Epic Alpha and Bravo Packs that can help you attain those Black Ice Skins. While the Alpha Packs can be purchased with renown, there’s no guarantee that their rarity will be Epic or Legendary. Conversely, Bravo Packs can only be gotten through the Battlepass, and their prize pool doesn’t contain any duplicates award so it’s a great way to amp up your collection of cosmetics.

Season Rewards
Although rainbow six siege only used to give you a charm based on the rank you achieved at the end of last season, however, they’ve brought changes to that rule. Speaking of charms, now you’ll get the charms of all the preceding ranks rather than your highest one. So for instance, if you reached Gold this season, you’ll get the charms of Copper, Bronze, Silver as well as Gold.
Not only that, but the devs felt that wasn’t too much to provide to their player base who invest most of their day grinding with their friends. That is why you’ll also be getting Alpha Packs and new Operator Cards at the end of the beginning of the new season, starting from the operation after Brutal Swarm.
Season Updates
During each season, you’ll also come across a plethora of game updates. They might be balancing updates, such as changing weapon recoil or an Operator Buff/Nerf. There’ll also be one or two updates that will introduce new gameplay arcade modes or bring back the older ones for a limited time.
The point of these updates is to improve the gameplay experience for every user, and these updates might be minor as well as significant. The most recent significant update includes the recoil revamp for every weapon and introducing a range in the game.

How Long Have Previous Seasons Been
Since the launch of Rainbow Six Siege, when the first season of Operation Black Ice was released, seasons have lasted for three months. However, it was the first time in year seven that before the launch of Operation Demon Veil, Ubisoft released a roadmap for all of its players to see and expect at the end of the year.
While the changes in the previous seasons have been significant, releasing a roadmap for the year shows that the devs are pretty serious about revamping the game and bringing a better gameplay experience to all players. It also allowed the siege community to speculate discussion and look forward to something new. T siege players are in for a hell of a ride!
While a new season brings about major changes to the game, it also helps players set themselves a goal so they feel motivated to play the game and keep grinding their way to the top ranks of Rainbow Six Seige.
