World of Tanks is among the few games that automatically display both ping and FPS on the screen, specifically in the top-left corner.
These real-time metrics are essential for assessing the performance of your PC and internet connection. However, it's important to note that this feature has not yet been implemented in WoT Blitz.
How to Remove the FPS & Ping Counter in WoT
While having the FPS and ping display in World of Tanks can be useful, you might find yourself wanting to remove or hide this feature.
Unlike some other settings, there isn’t a direct shortcut within the game to toggle this off. Instead, you will need to edit a game file.
Here’s how you can do it:
- Locate the preferences.xml file. This file is usually found in your World of Tanks installation folder. Navigate to the folder where WoT is installed on your computer to find it.
- Backup the file. Before making any changes, it’s a good idea to create a backup of the preferences.xml file. This way, if anything goes wrong, you can restore the original settings without any hassle.
- Edit the file. Open the preferences.xml
file with Notepad or any text editor of your choice. - Modify the FPS and ping display setting. Look for the"<showFPS>" line in the file. You can turn off the FPS and ping display by changing its value to <false>. The line should look like this: <showFPS>false</showFPS>
- Save and close. After making the change, save the file and close the text editor.
