When joining a GTA RP mod, you begin as an NPC (compared to the regular game where you’re the main protagonist with a storyline), and you have the freedom to do just about anything you want. 

These mods are pretty awesome as they give a different spin to the popular title. If you’re a big fan of GTA 5 but are bored with the basic content, they can give you something fresh to keep you entertained. 

This Rockstar game requires a mod to work. Without it, you can't even join the public server in the first place. In this article, I will talk more about the potential issues with mods and how to join GTA online server.

What are GTA RP mods?

GTA RP mod stands for GTA role-playing mods where a player takes a specific role within GTA 5 universe. 

These mods allow you to join GTA world without having to bother with the main story. In other words, they are great for all those who have already finished playing the game and want a bit different experience. GTA Online players can join one of these servers playing as a cop, butcher, prostitute, or other roles.

Of course, each one of the mods has a different basic premise. So, your overall experience can vary significantly based on what you've installed. Although these servers don't have Rockstar support, most of them have dedicated sites where you can learn more about a particular game mod and all the new things you can do with it.

Some of these professions might seem dull, but each one of them requires a high level of immersion. You don’t necessarily have to engage in violence to complete your main task. In fact, if you do, there is a good chance that cops will start chasing you, similar to the base game.

GTA RP servers compared to regular servers

The regular servers can be accessed via the Rockstar game launcher. You just access the base game, and there isn't much to it. You can even go to the company's support page to check the status of the PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox Cloud Gaming server.

Things get a bit trickier with mods. In most cases, you have to visit a particular website and follow the instructions. In some cases, you might have to disable the antivirus and firewall protection so that the download can go through. This is a big one, as a lot of antivirus programs perceive mods as malicious software.

Depending on GTA 5 online server, you might have to follow the mod rules to launch the application. For some of them, you will be placed in a queue based on how well you’re following them. This can even lead to banning if you’re going against the rules.

Keep in mind that each one of them has a specific ping that can be checked, depending on location, so your experience can vary based on what you’re playing. Of course, there are also certain tricks you can utilize to fix the high ping in GTA 5.

Although this might seem a bit excessive, this is the best way to ensure that everyone has fun while playing the game.
