How to Add Minecraft Friends in Minecraft Bedrock Edition
The Minecraft Bedrock edition is available for Windows PCs, Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, and mobile (Pocket Edition). Besides PC, the rest of the platforms exclusively only use this edition.
It has a built-in system to play together with your friends and a friends list, and you can see how to add friends in the Minecraft Bedrock edition below:
- Open up Minecraft and make sure you're logged in with your Microsoft account
- Select the "Play" button
- Go to the "Friends" tab above
- Click or select the "Add Friend" button
- Type in the gamer tag of your friend and press Enter
- Once the user is found by the gamer tag, click on "Add Friend"
If you're using any device except for Xbox, keep in mind that you must have a Microsoft account and manually log in with it in Minecraft.
If you don't have one, you can create it and log in with it in Minecraft through the "Sign in" button located in the bottom left corner of the main home screen.
Often players can get confused about what their Gamertag is. You'll get a Gamertag with your Microsoft account, and you or your friends can see it above your character's heads on the main Minecraft home screen. Then it should be easy to add your friends and even join them without a problem!
How to Add Minecraft Friends in Minecraft Java Edition
Unlike the Bedrock edition, Minecraft Java edition is only available for Windows, Linux, and macOS PCs. Unfortunately, the Java edition of Minecraft doesn't come with a friends list system. So without any additions to the game, the only way to keep track of your buddies is within the ranks of online servers, such as the best Star Wars Minecraft servers.
Luckily, there's a solution for this problem in a form of a mod. The mod's called Essential, and you'll have to connect your Microsoft account with their networks to add, chat, and keep track of your friends in Minecraft Java edition!
Another way to add and keep track of your online Minecraft friends is through privately created servers. And for that, the best Minecraft hosting services should definitely be used.
