Overwatch 2 Download Size [Newest Patch]

The first Overwatch title has brought so much commercial success to Activision Blizzard, and after six years since its release, they have decided to move forward and release the sequel. Overwatch 2 features both PvP and PvE game modes, including entirely new heroes and maps. In addition, this game has a shared multiplayer environment, which means that players from O.G. Overwatch and Overwatch 2 can play with each other while retaining all cosmetic items and other features. Since Overwatch 2 is powered by a bolstered version of the Overwatch's engine, this allows for a considerable expansion of the map sizes and visual improvements, among other things. Unfortunately, as a direct result, this will also mean that the download size of Overwatch 2 is significantly larger. So if you're wondering how exactly larger, keep reading to find out.

Overwatch 2 will get fully released for the PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.

What Is The Download Size Of Overwatch 2 Beta?

The download size for Overwatch 2 beta is 50 GB. Keep in mind that this size is susceptible to changes, particularly once the game leaves the beta stage and gets the full release. So hopefully, the download size will be reduced rather than the other way round. Overwatch 2 has cutting-edge textures, models, sounds, and other driving forces of the game. Because of this, the download size of Overwatch 2 has doubled in comparison with the original game, which is only around 20 GB in size.

Activision's... Oops, Microsoft's Future Crowd-puller

Unless you've been living under a rock, you probably know already that Activision Blizzard has been acquired by Microsoft. On January 18th, 2022, Microsoft have caused a sensation, but not by releasing another version of Windows update. Instead, they spent $68.7 billion, the most considerable amount of all time when it comes to gaming, to acquire Activision Blizzard. But how will this acquisition impact the Overwatch games?

He'll definitely get the beta access.

In all probability, players can expect constant improvements because, let's face it, Activision Blizzard hit rock bottom before this acquisition, primarily because of various scandals, losses in profits, unsuccessful games, etc. Microsoft's rescue came at the perfect time, so the only way from here is up. A perfect example of how Microsoft can improve a game is Minecraft, and since they acquired Mojang in 2014, that game has only been progressing and expanding. Let's hope they will do the same with Overwatch and the other famous Activision Blizzard titles.

So, taking everything into account, players can be very optimistic, and the future of Overwatch as a franchise is bright. Who knows, maybe they will include Overwatch 2 in the Xbox Game Pass in the future.
