[Solved] How To Fix Roblox Not Launching (9 Working Methods)

Although Roblox is a spectacular and relatively bug-free game, there are bound to be some minor problems here and there. That being said, a recent problem is arising among Roblox players, stopping them from playing the game altogether. This recent problem is “Roblox not launching”. Usually, bugs and glitches stop people from doing specific actions while in-game. However, the “Roblox not launching” problem is stopping people from even getting in-game.

There could be multiple reasons why this is happening. It could be caused by corrupted game files or a poor internet connection. However, this is just the tip of the iceberg as to what might actually be causing this issue. This is why we’ve written a step-by-step guide to inform you about why this “Roblox not launching” problem occurs and how to fix it.

Method 1: Check Your Graphics Card Driver

A good graphics card is the number one key to running and playing any game. However, for a graphics card to work at its optimum performance, it needs to have the latest drivers installed. In order to check if you're running an outdated graphics driver or not, follow these steps:

  1. Right-click the Windows logo on the bottom left of your screen

  2. Click on "Device Manager"

    device manager

  3. After clicking on Device Manager, it should take you to an interface like this:

    app data folder

  4. Click on "Display Adapters"

  5. It will show you the name of your graphics card

  6. Right-click on the name of your graphics card and select update graphics drivers

  7. Wait 10-15 minutes, and your computer will now automatically download new drivers

Method 2: Check Your Browser

Your browser can also cause these types of problems. To fix this (if your browser is causing it), update your browser to the latest version or change your browser entirely. The best options when looking to try out different browsers besides google chrome are

  • Mozilla Firefox

  • Opera

  • DuckDuckGo

Method 3: Disable Your Proxy Server

Although proxies and VPN services are meant to protect your internet usage, they can cause issues with internet stability and speed. To fix this issue, all you have to do is disable your proxy settings. Follow these steps to find out how;

  1. Go to the start menu.

  2. Click on the search bar and search for “Change Proxy Settings”

  3. Click on "Change Proxy Setting", and the image below will appear before you

    proxy tab

  4. Uncheck both “Use Setup Script” and “Use a Proxy Server”

  5. If you've followed the steps correctly, your proxy settings should be turned off

Method 4: Delete Roblox AppData Folder

App data files are basically the files that are stored over time by the game itself. The more you play a certain game, the more its app data folder will grow. App data files are also known as cache files. Deleting these files doesn't necessarily harm the game in any way. However, you do need to create a backup of these files in case things go south for some reason.

In order to delete the Roblox AppData Folder, follow these steps:

  1. Click on your toolbar and search for "Run"

  2. Click on Run and open it

  3. Once you have opened the "Run" interface, type "C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local"

    delete-appdata

  4. It should look something like this:
  5. Click on "Ok", and it will take you to the AppData folder
  6. From there, simply select the Roblox Game Folder and delete it

Once you have followed all of these steps correctly, your “Roblox Not Launching” problem should be resolved. However, if you're still seeing the same error, keep reading because the final step might just be your last and only option to fix this problem.

Method 5: Make Sure Your Date And Time Are Up To Date

This might sound a bit naive; however, if your date and time do not match with the servers of the internet, it can cause a lot of problems for you. Some browsers will throw a warning at you to set your date and time right. However, Chrome is the only browser that will outright stop you from accessing any webpage unless your date and time match it servers.

  1. Click on the start menu.

  2. Search for “Date and Time”

  3. It will show you the settings of “Date and Time”

  4. Lastly, click on it and turn on “Set Time Automatically

date and time tab

This will allow your computer to check the internet for the correct date and time and make changes accordingly

Method 6: Check Your Internet Connectivity

Yes, another naive suggestion; however, people often ignore the fact that their internet connections are not up to standard for playing an online game. This doesn't mean you have to go out and get the most expensive internet you can find.

A decent internet connection is enough to run Roblox and most other online games on the market. However, the stability of that internet must be top-notch. Internet stability basically means that there are no sudden ping spikes that keep disconnecting you from the game.

A good way to solve this problem would be to turn your router off and then turn it back on. This refreshes the connection between you and your ISP and grants stability. However, if this does not solve the issue, you need to contact your internet service provider and have the issue resolved that way.

A good way to check your internet stability would be to run an internet speed test. The best website to run a speed test would be speedtest.net.

Method 7: Launch Roblox In Administrative Mode

Administrative mode allows the application to have extra privileges. It grants them permission to edit the registry, change system files, and access folders that might be restricted. To run an app in administrative mode, follow these steps:

  1. Right-click on the Roblox app icon

  2. Click on “Run as Administrative”

  3. The app will now run in Administrative Mode

Method 8: Check Roblox's Servers

Roblox server outage reports

Sometimes, the problem can be from Roblox’s side and not yours. In order to check the Roblox server status, go to the DownDetector website and search for Roblox. If you see huge spikes in outage reports, this means, more likely than not, Roblox servers themselves are down.

Method 9: Uninstall Roblox and Then Re-Install it

If you’ve tried all of the steps and nothing has worked for you, it’s best to delete the game from its roots and re-install it completely. This step makes sure that no corrupted or damaged installation files stay on your computer. After that, you can freshly download Roblox again, and your issue should be resolved.

  1. Click on the start menu.

  2. Search for “Add or Remove Programs”

  3. Click on “Add or Remove Programs”, and the image below will appear before you.

    Apps and features tab

  4. Simply scroll down, select Roblox and uninstall it

  5. After that, go to Roblox’s official website or if you're on a Windows PC, go to Microsoft Store and reinstall Roblox

As we’ve previously discussed, even though Roblox is an online game loved and played by millions of users, there are bound to be minor inconveniences here and there. Aside from that, this is an absolutely lovely game that we all enjoy!
