How to Find Your Server location In Roblox (Step-By-Step)
Roblox is one of the most popular online gaming platforms of all time, where you can play games made by players with either strangers or your friends. However, because of this, your ping or latency is something that matters a lot.
Fortunately, Roblox has multiple servers in several locations to facilitate people from all over the world. As for what locations have supported Roblox servers, well, we're here to tell you that!
In addition, we'll also be telling you how to check which server you're currently connected to, as well as how to choose what server you join. A server that might have barely any players in it, for example. Although the latter will be done via a browser extension by the name of Roblox server finder.
All Precise Roblox Server Locations
Every server location Roblox uses to host their servers is not disclosed information. However, a Roblox forum member by the name of 'TheShowCaseMaker' was able to identify them using a variety of sources. They are
New York City
New South Wales
The three remaining precise server locations for Roblox are Singapore, Hong Kong, and Null Island. Because of their complicated and, at times controversial backgrounds, we chose not to assign states to them and left them from the above table.
One thing to note is that server locations are constantly being shut down, and new ones emerge all the time. For example, there used to be a server located in Hesse, Germany, but it ended up being shut down for some unknown reason.
Additionally, being on the server of a specific location does not change your language. If you want to do that, read how to change your language in Roblox
What Server Providers Does Roblox Use?
While in the past they used to use several service providers such as codero and leaseweb, they have since entirely started using Hashcorp’s stack. Roblox uses HashiCorp's Consul, Nomad, and Vault as their service providers to manage all their servers.
How to Choose a Server to Connect to
More often than not, Roblox connects players to the most suitable server hosting location using their fast-working algorithm. Smart search as some people call it. However, sometimes it might accidentally connect you to a server where you get a higher ping than usual, or maybe a server that has too many players causing server overload.
In cases like these, there is a browser extension called 'Roblox server finder' that might prove to be useful. Simply add it to your browser and then enter information such as a specified amount of players the server should include.
Using its fast working algorithm, the Roblox server finder extension will then give you the closest match. Many players use this to join servers with barely any players from the select servers tab, so they could treat it like their own private server. This used to allow players to see all other users currently in a server, but due to Roblox API changes, that isn't the case anymore.
Alternatively, other browser extensions such as BTRoblox and SearchBlox can also be used to achieve the same results. It is recommended that when joining a server, you join one that has at least one person already in it, as Roblox tends to close down idle servers.
How to Check Your Server Location
Once again there is no built-in way to check the location of the server you're in. However, it's possible to find out the general state and city location using HTTP GET requests sent to a specific URL. However, it isn't recommended as the information it gives is inaccurate. If you’re a developer and wish to know more about this, check out this DevForum post.
If the reason you want to check your server location is that you’re getting high ping, then there might be other fixes to your problem as well. Check out how to fix high ping in Roblox.
