What Are the DMZ Weapons in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2?

Call of Duty has had Battle Royale modes for several years, yet the introduction of the DMZ into Modern warfare II brings in a new objective-based match, allowing players to take the DMZ mode more at their own pace than other game modes.

For players looking to explore this new game mode, you'll need to know all about the weapons of the DMZ, how to unlock them, and how to use them in faction missions. If you want to survive in the DMZ, fighting against AI bots and other enemy operators in your DMZ matches, bringing the best weapons is a must.

Here's everything you need to know about the weapons and weapon system in the DMZ game mode.

What is the Modern Warfare II DMZ Mode?

If you want to know exactly how the DMZ game mode works, check out our article explaining the Warzone DMZ mode.

1

All you need to know is that it takes place on the Call of Duty Warzone match Al Mazrah, and is an objective-based game mode focused on missions, boss battles, and progression systems. It is commonly compared to Escape from Tarkov, although Call of Duty's bots are a bit more obvious - read more in our article exploring if there are bots in Escape from Tarkov.

The aim is to collect and upgrade gear, complete faction missions, and level up your character. You can do this by collecting keys, fighting bosses and strongholds, and generally collecting gear. Players have 30 minutes to do everything they need and then extract.

How Do the Modern Warfare II DMZ Weapons Work?

Unlike Call of Duty Warzone are COD Modern Warfare II multiplayer, you only live once in the DMZ, and dying has much worse consequences than usual. At the very beginning players will be given a few free contraband weapons, and a single insured weapon slot.

If a player dies before extracting from the Modern Warfare DMZ, whether to bots, enemy operators, or falling off the edge of the map, all the gear, including contraband guns.

Other than the basic contraband weapon unlocks you get at the start, players can find better weapons and gear by complete faction missions, a weapon unlock challenge, or taking them off other players they've killed in the Modern Warfare DMZ.

What Is An Insured Weapon?

Every player gets one insured weapon slot for their Modern Warfare II DMZ matches. These insured weapons stay with the player no matter what, meaning you don't have to worry about losing it when you die.

They are fully customizable, and you can use a weapon blueprint to create yours. Beware, however, as dying with the weapon equipped will lock the insured weapon slots for two hours. If you're not sure what weapon to equip, Check out our article on the best Assault Rifles in Warzone for some ideas.

You can bring this time down by extracting from the Modern Warfare II DMZ with extra cash and valuable loot caches to pay off the timer with. As you progress, you will be able to bring in more insured weapons as you can unlock more insured weapon slots - up to three.

As you complete more faction missions, you can upgrade your weapon blueprint and kit yourself out as much as possible.

What Is A Contraband Weapon?

These weapons are unique to the DMZ, and can be picked up across the map, when you complete missions, or from other players you've killed as you play DMZ. When you lose these upon death, they're gone for good.

Although these are unique to DMZ, their weapon xp is not. This means contraband weapons acquired in a Modern Warfare II DMZ match can unlock weapons for Call of Duty Warzone, and levelling them up will level up the new weapon across all of COD. This is the case for weapon blueprints, as well.

And that's everything you need to know about weapons acquired in the DMZ mode of Modern Warfare II. So go out and smash those missions, unlock those weapons, and enjoy mowing down AI and enemy players in the DMZ!
