6 Reasons Why People Hate Fortnite

There are criticisms of Fortnite coming from several groups of people including casual gamers, parents, and pro players. The top 6 reasons people hate Fortnite are:

The Building Mechanic

The building mechanic in Fortnite both sets it apart from other Battle Royale games, while also making it inaccessible to new Fortnite players. New players struggle to wrap their heads around the unique gaming mechanic. I’m experienced in gaming, and it took me months to be competent at building.

The steep learning curve associated with a complex gaming mechanic like building in Fortnite Battle Royale can frustrate new players, and make them think Fortnite is a bad game. Simultaneously, for experienced players, the building mechanic is the best part of Fortnite Battle Royale. Gamers competing in the Fortnite World Cup spend hours upon hours grinding out different Fortnite builds.

Epic Games receives major criticism from parents over Fortnite Battle Royale being harmful to kids. It’s almost common sense that Fortnite is addictive to kids. Some people claim Fortnite is as harmful to a kid's brain development as substances like alcohol. Epic Games has even received negative press from news organizations for being harmful to kids.

Does Fortnite Have Sexualized Skins?

Another criticism towards Epic Games from parents is sexualized Fortnite skins. When you look at some of the skins in the Fortnite Item Shop, or Fortnite Battle Pass, you may be inclined to agree. Some frustrations I’ve encountered in battle royale games are rampant third partying, unlucky random loot drops, and repetition. Since the map barely changes between Fortnite Seasons, and we only get a fresh map every Fortnite Chapter, the game becomes repetitive. Thankfully, there are loads of non-battle royale games like Elden Ring for these players.

Does Fortnite Have a Toxic Community?

Some Fortnite haters point towards toxicity in the Fortnite Battle Royale community as a reason for Fortnite being a bad game. People especially dislike the toxicity of dancing on your opponents after an elimination. After eliminations, players will drop some of the Best Fortnite Emotes on their foes, which can be considered poor sportsmanship.

It’s a Meme To Hate Fortnite

It’s nearly impossible to scroll through social media without running into a Fortnite hate meme. As with every game, when it reaches a critical mass, people will hate it.

I’ll admit it, I’ve laughed at Fortnite hate memes, and I think Fortnite is a good game! These memes are effective, and can lead people to hate on Fortnite without ever playing the game.
