4 Best Sources for XP Adventure Rank in Genshin Impact

Quests

Genshin Impact is an open-world RPG (role-playing game) that involves quests in order for players to get to know the game and its characters better. Aside from storytelling, they help you gain adventure EXP (its long form being Adventure Experience Points, also called AR EXP) quickly.

If you are new to Genshin Impact, this portion may sound confusing, but there are different types of quests that you can complete in Genshin Impact. These are:

• Archon Quests - Archon quests are quests that tell the main storyline of the Genshin Impact game. It involves the story of the Traveler and Paimon and their journey in the world of Teyvat (I won't say more because that might spoil later content!). An archon quest is usually gated by a certain adventure rank, whereas later Archon quests have higher adventure rank level requirements. However, most often you will be sufficiently leveled when the time for that Archon Quest comes.
• World Quests - World quests are interesting quests that players can stumble upon when exploring a new area, where an interaction between NPCs (Non-Playable Characters) causes the beginning of a world quest. These types of quests let players know the foreign area better or usually tell the stories of Teyvat in much finer detail. In my opinion, if you're a stinker for Genshin Impact lore, this is definitely one you should do!
• Story Quests - Personally, Story quests are my favorite kind of quests out of all the types of quests you can do in Genshin Impact. Story quests are where the characteristics and personality of each playable character in Genshin Impact are showcased. You can see how the playable characters behave when they interact with various NPCs and the Traveler.

Daily Commissions

Daily commissions are yours and my best friend in Genshin Impact. Although commissions fall under the quests section above, I felt that commissions are actually a whole different thing altogether. 

While daily commissions are one of the best options on how to save primogems in Genshin Impact, they are also the bread and butter you will eat every day in your Genshin Impact gaming journey.

Daily commissions are usually the constant income of adventure rank experience that you will need to do in order to reach AR 60 (the highest Adventure Rank (AR) in Genshin Impact). As Archon, Story, and World quests cannot be repeated once completed, you will need to resort to finishing daily commissions to raise adventure rank.

Once you finish all the daily commissions, you can claim the Adventure EXP reward from Ms. Ad-Astra-Abyssosque (Katheryne, the Receptionist of the Adventurer's Guild). 

You might ask how much adventure exp she gives - it's a fixed 500 AR EXP. 500 AR EXP may seem small, but trust me it will go a long way when you claim it 10, 50, or 100 times as you keep playing; accumulation and consistency are keys to the long-haul grind!

Exploration

Exploration may be the most tedious method to earn adventure EXP, however, it contributes greatly when you want to increase adventure rank. When I say exploration, I mean going around the open world in Teyvat - yes, I mean running around fighting enemies and collecting loot. The main focus of exploration is primarily three activities:

• Opening treasure chests - The open world is filled with chests that when opened, give a ton of freebies, such as AR EXP and primogems. Whenever people ask how to get free primogems in Genshin Impact, this is my go-to answer: go explore!
• Collecting Oculi (Oculus) or World Collectibles - With each new region, there is usually the corresponding elemental oculi. When you gather enough oculi and submit them to the Statue of the Sevens, they can provide you with rewards for your labor. The juicy rewards that you will want to take home are definitely the primogems and AR EXP.
• Adventure Handbook investigations - there are certain tasks that involve milestones in the open world or equipment levels that you have to do. These tasks and their rewards are provided to players to ensure they know what goes where (like how to level up artifacts or where to fight bosses).

Resin Expenditure

Original resin (or just referred to as resin for the sake of simplicity) is the energy currency that players will receive automatically. You can keep in mind that whenever you spend resin, you will always get back AR EXP no matter what, along with the various rewards that you spend your resin for.

Currently, the maximum amount of resin that we can hold is up to 160, and players are allowed to keep them in a condensed form (40 per condensed resin for a total of 200 resin). You can essentially keep up to 360 resin for disposal.

There are a lot of places where you can spend those resins, however, some do not allow the uses of condensed resins. Here is a list of places where you can spend your resin in exchange of certain materials.

• Domains - You can use normal resin for 1x rewards, and condensed resins for 2x the rewards (usually done to save time). You can enter domains for weekly bosses, weapon ascension materials, character talent materials, and artifacts.
• Ley Line Outcrop - These are dream-like spheres that are colored either blue (for Character EXP materials) or yellow (for Mora). Farming ley line outcrops is how to level up characters fast in Genshin Impact, so ensure that you often use your resin here if you're aiming to increase your team level.
• Open world bosses - You will need to spend 40 resin per boss material collection in order to obtain enough resources to ascend your characters to the highest level in Genshin Impact (you hit the maximum at level 90).

However, do note that using your resin at higher adventure ranks allows you to get the best rewards, so make sure to commit to using your resin only when your adventure rank in Genshin Impact is high enough to obtain the highest grade artifact, weapon ascension materials, and so on.

Also, ensure that whatever you are farming is worth your resin - there are some of the worst artifacts in Genshin Impact that are known to be untouched, so keep your eyes peeled!

If I were to repeat playing Genshin Impact for the first time, I would recommend focusing on completing all the Main Story Quests and the related World Quests to open the map. This allows easier exploration later on, where areas that are restricted due to story progression are no longer an issue. 

If you're unsure of what to do after the story in Genshin Impact, make sure to deplete your resin through constant grinding, be it preparation for future characters, or the endless search for the perfect artifact!
