However is there a way to change weather conditions in Genshin Impact? Let's take a closer look!

How to Make it Rain in Genshin Impact?

Can You Make it Rain in Genshin Impact?

Currently, there is no way to deliberately make it rain in Genshin Impact. Raining, in most parts of Teyvat, is one of the unique environmental shifts that you can experience when adventuring.

However, with Genshin Impact's current map size, there are specific parts of Teyvat that you can adventure in that rain non-stop (until you clear specific requirements).

Although this may not be true, there might be a way to potentially trigger rain or thunderstorm weather. (Disclaimer: this has never been proven, so try at your own risk.)

You may try the following steps to attempt to make it rain in Genshin Impact.

Step 1: Open the Paimon Menu

When opening the Paimon menu, you should see something similar to the picture below.

2

Step 2: Click on the Clock Icon

This Clock (or Time) icon can be found on the left-hand side of the Paimon menu, as shown below.

3

Step 3: Set the time a few hours ahead.

You can adjust the amount of time you want to advance by moving the clock's hands.

4

Once you have finished, exit Paimon's menu and observe the sky. if the sky still looks sunny, you may want to repeat the process.

How to Make it Stop Raining in Genshin Impact?

  1. Open your Paimon Menu
  2. Click on the Clock icon (The one that allows you to adjust the time.)
  3. Set the time ahead by a few hours.

What Weather Conditions Can You Find in Genshin Impact?

As of now, these are the weather conditions that you can experience in Genshin Impact gameplay!

Regular Weather Conditions

These weather conditions are the basic conditions that you can encounter in almost all places of Teyvat. These include:

  • Sunny, Cloudy, or Clear
  • Rain
  • Thunderstorm

Sunny, Cloudy, or Clear

This default weather condition is the most commonly seen weather when playing Genshin Impact. You can take amazing, vibrant screenshots during this weather. Perfect for adventuring!

Rain

Raining is a particular weather condition that may occur in anywhere on the surface of Teyvat, with city areas included!

Raining also prevents any fire from lighting up, so if you are trying to light up torches with the Pyro element, you may first need to change the weather to something other than rain.

6

When it rains, you will notice that no wild animals will spawn in the surrounding environment. It shows you that Genshin Impact really goes into detail regarding your gameplay experience.

Thunderstorm

A thunderstorm is a weather change, which has all the conditions of rain, but with a little twist. This may be quite a dangerous weather condition to explore as lightning may randomly strike the ground, dealing damage to the player, wild animals, and enemies alike. If you have a slightly lower level, be cautious when adventuring during a thunderstorm.

7

When progressing through the story quest, you may encounter certain areas that are perpetually affected by thunderstorms. These may include:

  • The entire region of Inazuma (before completing Transient Dreams)
  • Yashiori Island (before completing Orobashi's Legacy)
  • Amakumo Peak (before completing Part IV of Seirai Stormchasers)

There is a somewhat random influence from thunderstorms where the lightning strikes can aid you to kill your enemies, so you may take advantage of this.

Special Weather Conditions

Some parts of Teyvat have special environments that override weather conditions. These special weather conditions are:

  • Snowy
  • Snowstorm
  • Fog

You should also note that places with special weather conditions are not always necessarily considered special environments.

Snowy

You can only find snowy weather in places with Subzero Climate. This means that you can only encounter this specific weather in Genshin Impact's Dragonspine, being one of the highest places in the game.

While you adventure in snowy weather, the Sheer Cold effect will accumulate. This effect is a cumulative condition that when full, your current character will receive constant damage and is lethal.

8

To remain safe in snowy weather, make sure you have a source of pyro (heat) nearby. You can also consume the Goulash dish to reduce the Sheer Cold accumulation rate.

Snowstorm

Snowstorms, like snowy weather, can only be encountered in Subzero Climate.

There are snowstorms affecting specific parts of Dragonspine. However, this special weather in Genshin Impact is known to be one of the most annoying to explore with. The Sheer Cold accumulation rate is 2.5x higher, making it a lot faster for your characters to succumb to the icy weather.

9

You should also note that the goulash effect does not work, so you might have to consider cooking more HP replenishing dishes when adventuring in places with snowstorm weather.

Fog

Fog, also known as foggy weather, can be found in the limited-time Golden Apple Archipelago area.

Be careful when sailing into the fog while using your Waverider (boat), as it will cause you to respawn at the last activated Glimmering Beacon. Once all the Teleport Waypoints are activated, the fog is automatically lifted.

10

You can also encounter fog on Tsurumi island. If you adventure too deep or too long in the thick fog, you will be teleported away. However, once the 'Through the Mists' quests are completed, the fog will be lifted.

If you are in love with the beautiful effects these weathers have on the sceneries, make sure to check out how to record your Genshin Impact gameplay or how to screenshot in-game!
