Worst Artifacts to Farm in Genshin Impact (Trust Us…)

Equipping and raising the correct artifact sets is the primary method of gaining powerful stats. This is especially true when you start hitting the late game, where you can no longer level up your characters.

With that said, I’m going to be listing the top 5 worst artifacts in Genshin Impact based on their set effects.

Artifacts are farmed in their respective domains in exchange for resin. In order to make the best use of your limited daily resin, make sure to avoid the domains for these artifacts.

Note: What makes artifacts good are actually the main and substats you roll on them. For this guide, we are only evaluating artifact sets based on their 2-piece and 4-piece bonuses.

1 /5

Maiden’s Beloved

1

2-Piece Bonus

Character Healing Effectiveness +15%

4-Piece Bonus

Using an Elemental Skill or Burst increases healing received by all party members by 20% for 10s.

Location

This artifact set can be farmed from the Domain of Rememberance in Monstadt, located near the Dawn Winery.

2

Evaluation

Almost unanimously agreed upon as the worst artifact set in the game, the Maiden’s Beloved enjoys a fair bit of unpopularity.

This is because the set aims to provide healing strength, which most players find unnecessary. Most healers can heal themselves up to full, and a healing strength increase is not something they are actively looking for.

Furthermore, most healing abilities scale off other stats such as health or even attack. This makes the healing bonus obsolete. As such, sets that provide either increased health or attack damage will outperform it while also giving better buffs.

The meta is also one where shields and crowd control are preferred over simple heals due to the immunity to knockbacks and animation canceling.

Currently, nobody makes use of this set except some usage for the set effects by pure healer Barbara builds.

2 /5

Archaic Petra

3

2-Piece Bonus

Geo DMG Bonus +15%

4-Piece Bonus

Upon obtaining an Elemental Shard created through a Crystallize Reaction, all party members gain 35% DMG Bonus for that particular element for 10s. Only one form of Elemental DMG Bonus can be gained in this manner at any one time.

Location

This artifact can be farmed in the Domain of Guyun on the South-East island of the Guyun Stone Forest in Liyue.

4

Evaluation

Geo is notorious for being one of the worst elements for elemental reaction damage. Therefore, increasing scalings on elemental mastery or elemental burst damage do not achieve much for these characters who are more suited toward defense or getting increased attack damage.

People theorized that this set could be made useable on characters like Albedo or when running the full Geo comp. While this sounds like a promising idea on paper, it’s not so simple in practice.

You will have to rely on awkward switching and crystal drop placements even in a full Geo comp. Moreover, the 10s cooldown on the ability also gives this effect a much more clunky and inconsistent feeling.

Especially when you begin comparing it to another elemental damage-oriented set such as Viridescent Venerer for Anemo, you begin to see how much this set lacks in terms of both damage and utility.

As expected, this set is borderline unusable for any character that’s not Geo. Currently, only the main DPS Ninguang is able to make some use of this set.

3 /5

Bloodstained Chivalry

5

2-Piece Bonus

Physical DMG +25%

4-Piece Bonus

After defeating an opponent, it increases Charged Attack DMG by 50%, and reduces its Stamina cost to 0 for 10s. Also triggers wild animals such as boars, squirrels, and frogs.

Location

This artifact set can be farmed from the Clear Pool and Mountain Cavern domain located on the Northern side of Mt. Aocang in Liyue.

Evaluation

Let’s start thinking about why such a set could be bad. In theory, the set bonus effects look both powerful and fun to use - you gain a physical damage bonus while also getting increased charged attack damage that you can spam.

The issue with this is that Genshin Impact’s combat is strongly reliant on elemental reactions and elemental damage. Physical damage, albeit strong, only applies to itself and misses out on half of the increased elemental damage buffs you might otherwise receive with just an increase in attack damage.

Secondly, while charged attacks do seem fun to spam, they also leave the user completely vulnerable and locked in an animation. Most character playstyles avoid charged attacks altogether in order to get the maximum damage output.

The most important thing to consider, however, is that for the same investment in resin, you can go for the Pale Flame set that provides an identical physical damage increase on the 2-piece bonus. Not only this but the 4-piece bonus on the Pale Flame set synergizes with elemental skills and provides a very strong attack damage increase. This attack damage increase applies to charged attacks and normal attack hits, elemental skills, and elemental burst damage.

This is why the Bloodstained Chivalry set finds itself completely overshadowed by better options.

And while the domain for this artifact set also provides the powerful Noblesse Oblige artifact set, you can simply use the new artifact box feature to farm as many of those as you wish.

4 /5

Lavawalker

7

2-Piece Bonus

Pyro RES increased by 40%.

4-Piece Bonus

Increases DMG against opponents affected by Pyro by 35%.

Location

This artifact set can be farmed in the Hidden Palace of Zhou Formula domain on Wuwang Hill.

8

Evaluation

The worst crime this set has committed is not its own fault. Simply put, the domain you need to clear to farm this artifact set is notoriously difficult repeatedly. Even players playing co-op with their friends or with strong teams struggle to clear this domain.

The first set effect might as well be irrelevant because an increase in elemental res against one specific element does not serve much purpose.

The second effect does not provide too much value either, especially considering that a lot of enemies with inherent pyro characteristics are immune to it as well. Going against other types of enemies can be a powerful option, but there’s a better alternative already present.

The artifact set also finds itself paired with the Crimson Witch of Flames artifact set. And, when you compare the two, it’s very easy to see which one can provide stronger buffs.

While this set can provide higher base damage, the Crimson Witch set provides greater elemental reaction damage on your elemental skills and elemental burst abilities. Since the meta favors elemental reactions instead of flat elemental damage increase, it’s easy to figure out why the Lavawalker set is overshadowed.

5 /5

Retracing Bolide

9

2-Piece Bonus

Increases Shield Strength by 35%.

4-Piece Bonus

While protected by a shield, gain an additional 40% Normal and Charged Attack DMG.

Location

This artifact can be farmed in the Domain of Guyun on the South-East island of the Guyun Stone Forest in Liyue.

10

Evaluation

We’ve already discussed the Archaic Petra artifact set above that shares the same domain as Retracing Bolide. Due to this, the efficiency of farming this domain is severely hampered, and we’re already off to a bad start.

Now you might be confused as the 4-piece set effect looks quite powerful. However, it fails to mention that the damage increases to normal, and charged attacks are received only by the character who cast the shield. This makes the artifact set completely useless as an option for Geo support characters which is what most of them primarily serve as.

As expected, it’s only useable on characters that can generate shields. Due to its lack of synergy with support builds, it is currently only usable if you run a Geo character as DPS, such as Zhongli or Ninguang, but even they seem to find more consistent buffs through sets like Gladiator’s Longing.

Keeping all this in mind makes the Domain of Guyun the worst artifact domain to spend your resin on.

We hope you found this guide useful and will help you avoid resin spending that you might regret later.
