How to craft Block of Coal in Minecraft
#1 Collect 9x Coal
Coal can be obtained by mining Coal Ore with any Pickaxe. Each ore drops 1x Coal on break and up to 4x Coal if you have a Fortune III pickaxe.
If you mine Coal Ore with a Silk Touch pickaxe, it will drop 1x Coal Ore. You can mine it with a normal pickaxe or put it in the Furnace to get 1x Coal.
Coal can also be found in looted chests in most structures like Dungeons, Mineshafts, Igloos, Shipwrecks, Strongholds, Ruins, Villages, and Woodland Mansions. They have a variety of chances to contain 1-8x Coal.
Wither Skeleton in the Nether dimension has a 33.33% chance to drop 1x Coal on death. It can drop up to 4x Coal if you have a Looting III enchantment sword.
#2 Finish off crafting a Block of Coal
When you have 9x Coal, right-click a Crafting Table and put them all in the grid to craft 1x Block of Coal.
