What Do You Need to Play Minecraft VR Using Questcraft?

Before we jump into playing Minecraft VR, there are a couple of requirements that you won't be able to get the game without. So here are all the things you'll need to play Minecraft VR using Questcraft: 

• An Oculus Meta Quest device
• A Microsoft account with a bought copy of Minecraft Java edition
• A phone
• A good PC
• A USB-C or USB-3 cable alongside a PC port that will support it

These requirements are mostly needed because you'll be placing the Questcraft game from your PC on your Quest device to play Minecraft VR freely. Knowing that below you can see exactly how to play Minecraft VR using Questcraft to start building the best house ideas!

How to Play Minecraft VR Using Questcraft

Make a Sidequest Account

To play Minecraft VR on your Quest, we'll be using an app called Sidequest. So the first step is pretty easy as all you'll have to do is make a Sidequest account. You can make an account by going to the Sidequest website and clicking on the "Sign Up" button at the top right corner!

There are many options for making a Sidequest account, and you can even directly sign up using a Google account. But making an account depends on your own preferences, so choose whichever suits you most. 

Download the Sidequest PC App

Next up we'll want to download the Sidequest app by clicking on "Get Sidequest" at the top menu of their page. We'll be downloading the Sidequest Easy Installer, so choose what PC you have on the left side and click on "Download".

After the process is finished, you can open up the downloaded file which will launch the Sidequest setup window. If you click on "Open Setup Instructions", you'll see what you need to do before getting Sidequest on your Quest device, which we'll check out right now!

Make an Organization for Your Meta Account

Albeit it sounds complicated, making an organization for your Meta account is pretty easy! You'll have to go to the Developer Oculus website and log in with your Meta account. After you're logged in, click on "Create An Organization" on the left side. 

On this new page, type in any name you want for your organization and check the "I understand box". To finalize making the organization, click on "Submit". Another window might pop up to check yet another "I agree" box, so click it and select "Submit" again!

Turn On Developer Mode on Your Phone

Turning on Developer Mode for your Meta Quest device can be done through the Meta Quest app. If you don't have it already, download it and it will give you instructions to pair it with your Quest device.

But if you have the app set up already, click on the menu at the bottom right corner and select "Devices". Scroll down a bit, click on "Developer mode", and then turn on the option.

If you got stuck with the 2 previous steps, there's a button called "Fix It For Me" on the right side of the Sidequest app. It'll give you instructions on fixing some of the basic problems that arise when downloading Sidequest on a Meta Quest device!

Connect Your Quest Device to Your PC With a Cable

Now you'll have to connect your Meta Quest device with a cable to your PC. Using a less powerful cable than the one we mentioned above or a PC USB port might cause issues, so make sure you're using a proper cable!

When you put on the Quest device and turn it on, 2 messages will appear: "Allow USB debugging" and "Allow access to data". Make sure you select "Allow" for both of them!

Install Sidequest on Your Quest Device

If everything you did so far is alright, then in the Sidequest window on your PC on the right side there should be an "Install Sidequest" button. Select it, and then click on "Install Sidequest in Your Headset". This may take a while, so definitely set out your best Redstone ideas to build while you're waiting for when you get to play Minecraft in virtual reality!

While Sidequest is getting installed, make sure you don't plug off the cable of your headset from the PC. You can plug off the cable after the Sidequest installation is fully complete.

Put On your Quest Device and Open the Sidequest App

You won't be needing your PC anymore, so now you can put your Meta Quest device on, and go to the app library by clicking it on the bottom right corner of the little menu. Then tap on the Search bar above, click at the top right side where it says "All", and select the "Unknown Sources" tab.

The Sidequest app should appear once you select the "Unknown Sources" tab. So tap it to open the Sidequest app!

Go to Your PC's Browser and Confirm Sidequest Login

When you open the Sidequest app on your Quest, a code alongside a link will appear. What you'll have to do right now is take off your Quest device, go to your PC, open the Sidequest login link, and type in the code that you got on your Quest. 

After you type in the code, a new menu will pop up. Just click the "Link App" button here and you're good to go!

Find and Download the Questcraft App in Sidequest

Now with Sidequest all loaded up, you're ready to download Questcraft! For this, go to the Sidequest app on your Quest, search for Questcraft, and click on "Download Questcraft (Sideload)".

If a security window pops up, click on the "Settings" option. Then turn on the "Allow from this source" option. When you go back, you can continue on freely installing the Questcraft Minecraft launcher. Open Questcraft and Log In With Your Microsoft Account

Now you can launch Minecraft the way we opened Sidequest - by selecting to get shown apps from Unknown Sources in the app library. Once you open it up, you'll be instructed to log in with your Microsoft account from where you've bought Minecraft.

After you log in, the Minecraft launcher will pop up where you can press on "Play" to start playing Minecraft in virtual reality! This will be a Java edition of the game, so you don't need to have Minecraft Bedrock edition installed. So unfortunately, you won't be able to play Minecraft cross-platform with other devices.
