The 10 Best Bear Pokémon – Ranked from Best to Worst!

1 /10

Urshifu

The title of ‘best bear Pokémon’ has to go to Urshifu. This Pokémon was introduced in Pokémon Sword and Shield in the Isle of Armor DLC. It evolves from little bear Pokémon Kubfu, a pure Fighting type Pokémon.

Kubfu evolves into one of Urshifu’s two forms depending on which special scroll it reads.

Urshifu Single Strike Style

Kubfu exposed to the Scroll of Darkness evolve into the Single Strike Style Urshifu. Single Strike Style Urshifu is the Fighting/Dark dual-type form of Urshifu.

Kubfu exposed to the Scroll of Water evolve into the Rapid Strike Style Urshifu, which is the Fighting/Water dual-type form of Urshifu. In its debut game, Urshifu in its Rapid Strike Style was one of only two Pokémon with both the Water and Fighting types.

Urshifu Rapid Strike Style

Urshifu in both forms is tied with Ursaluna for the bear Pokémon with the highest base stats.

Urshifu also has access to a special Gigantamax form, Gigantamax Urshifu, with variants for both of its Styles.

This Legendary Fighting type Pokémon takes the top spot in this listing as the best bear Pokémon. Urshifu is also one of the best Fighting type Pokémon!

2 /10

Ursaluna

Pokémon Legends Arceus introduced Ursaluna, a Ground/Normal dual-type Pokémon. This is the evolved form of Ursaring, exclusive to Pokemon Legends Arceus.

Ursaluna evolves from Ursaring in the Hisui region when exposed to the Peat Block item under the full moon.

Ursaluna

Ursaluna is a powerful Pokémon with two type immunities – Ghost and Electric – although it does have three new weaknesses. Check out this list of the most interesting type combinations!

Ursaluna is a great Pokémon and is a refreshing update to an old and somewhat forgotten Pokémon family.

It takes the penultimate spot over other bears because it’s a breath of fresh air with a great design featuring a crescent moon and good stats, as well as being the only three stage bear Pokémon!

3 /10

Ursaring

Ursaring is Normal type bear Pokémon introduced in Pokémon Gold and silver. Its pre-evolution, Teddiursa, is the quintessential cuddly teddy bear. Ursaring is much more menacing – in looks and ability!

Ursaring

With a high attack stat, Ursaring makes a great physical attacker, and its base stat total of 500 is nothing to be sniffed at either.

Pokémon Legends Arceus granted Ursaring an evolution. Because of this Ursaring is now able to use the powerful Eviolite item which boosts the power of any Pokémon which can evolve. If not for its evolution Ursaluna, Ursaring would have taken the penultimate spot on this listing!

4 /10

Snorlax

Snorlax is a fan-favorite bear with a long history in the Pokémon franchise. A take on the greedy bear archetype, Snorlax is most famously known for being a sleeping Pokémon – blocking the path from Lavender Town in Pokémon Red and Blue.

Snorlax

Snorlax was given a baby form in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, although this form was difficult to catch due to a mechanic involving the Honey item and special trees.

Snorlax is a solid physical attacker with a strong special defense stat. As a Normal type Pokémon Snorlax’s only weakness is to the Fighting type, and it’s completely immune to Ghost type moves.

Recently Snorlax hasn’t seen quite as much success in the competitive scene as it’s been outclassed by newer Pokémon, but it’s still a solid Pokémon and is easily one of the better bear Pokémon just for its rotund charm.

5 /10

Pangoro

Pandas are famous the world over for their cuteness and charm, but Pangoro takes the look in a slightly less cutesy direction. This is a panda bear with attitude. Pangoro evolves from Pancham.

Pangoro

Far from being a standard issue Pokémon, Pancham has a unique evolution method. It evolves into Pangoro, a Dark type upon evolution, starting at level 32 only if the player has another Dark type Pokémon in their party.

Pangoro is technically the weakest of our fully evolved bears. However, as a Dark type Pokemon, it has an immunity to Fighting type’s greatest weakness, Psychic type which gives it an interesting dynamic when it comes to Pokémon battles.

Its cool design and interesting type mean it ranks higher than some other bear Pokémon on this list, but only just!

6 /10

Bewear

Introduced in Pokémon Sun and Moon, Bewear evolves from Stufful and is a take on the red panda. So technically not a bear, but Nintendo says it’s a bear, so it’s a bear.

Bewear

Bewear sports an interesting dual-typing in the form of Normal/Fighting. The Normal type grants it an immunity to Ghost type moves!

Its spread of stats means it’s a great choice of an offensive tank with solid Attack stat, Defense, and HP stats – and an Ability which makes physical contact moves hit for half their strength! Definitely a bonus when you’re weak to Fighting type Pokémon.

Bewear was also in the Pokémon anime as a friend to Team Rocket during Pokémon the Series: Sun & Moon.

7 /10

Kubfu

Winning a spot above fully evolved form, Beartic, Kubfu with its cuddly appearance and evolved form Urshifu is a great bear Pokémon.

Kubfu

Introduced in Pokémon Sword and Shield, this cuddly teddy bear is a Fighting type Pokémon with a sweet bear cub theme.

Kubfu beats other bear Pokémon because of its adorable appearance and final evolution, Urshifu.

8 /10

Beartic

Beartic is an Ice type bear Pokémon introduced in the sixth generation of games, in Pokémon Black and White. Beartic clearly shows its Ice type in its design, featuring icicles prominently, and along with Cubchoo, they look like polar bears.

Unfortunately for Beartic, the Ice typing is why it’s ranked worst on this list!

If type match ups are you thing, check out this list of thebest types!

Beartic

Ice type’s weaknesses make it a poor choice in competitive play and at times even in casual play.

But Beartic looks fierce, so don’t let that deter you if you’re a true fan!

Beartic isn’t the strongest Pokémon out there, but its strong Attack stat means it can pack a punch as long as it doesn’t get taken out first.

Easier said than done, since its slow speed means it usually moves second.

9 /10

Stufful

A cute little red panda bear with its round ears, Stufful is a Normal type Pokémon with a secondary Fighting type! This bear like Pokémon evolves into Bewear, which gets it a spot over Cubchoo as its final evolution is something actually useful!

Stufful

10 /10

Cubchoo

With its white fur, constantly running nose, and teddy bear look, Cubchoo is certainly cute! This Ice type Pokémon evolves into Beartic.

Not a powerful Pokémon at all, Cubchoo is at least super cute bear Pokémon. That's why it gets a spot on this list!
