Is it possible to Fly in Pokémon Go?
The answer, technically, is “no”. There isn’t any official Fly function. The game’s creators, Niantic, intend for players to physically move to different locations and encounter new Pokémon in that way. But there is a workaround, albeit one which Niantic disapproves of, and which is against the TOS.
It’s called GPS spoofing. Pokémon Go players call it “Flying” or “Teleporting” after moves from the Pokémon games, but really, it’s making your phone appear to be in a different location than it actually is.
That means you can travel to any location in the world – in Pokémon Go, of course! – without ever leaving your seat. For more Pokémon Go content check out this article on how long Pokémon stay in Gyms in Go!

How does Flying in Pokémon Go work?
Spoofing, or Flying as it’s called in Pokémon Go, works by making the Pokémon Go app think that your phone is in a different location to where it really is.
To do this you have to download a location spoofing app. Here are a few examples:
Fly GPS
Tenorshare iAnyGo
Dr. Fone Location Changer
UltFone iOS Location Changer
Install an app, then if you’re in New York but you want to catch Pokémon in Paris, you can do that!

How to Fly in Pokémon Go?
Flying on Android
Step 1 – Download a spoofing app
First, you would download your preferred spoofing app from the Play store. There are many but Fly GPS-Location fake/Fake GPS by SAMBOKING works well enough.
Once it’s installed, in order to Fly in Pokémon Go there’s a few more steps that need to be followed.
Step 2 - Enable developer options
Next, you’re going to need to enable developer options on your Android phone. To do this you need to:
Go to Settings > About phone
Scroll down to Build number
Tap Build number 7 times
After tapping Build number 7 times developer options should now be active
Step 3 - Enable mock locations
Now you will need to enable mock locations in your Android settings. Navigate to the developer settings page by choosing Settings > System > Developer options to be redirected to the Android Developer Settings page.
Enable Mock Locations and choose Fly GPS as your mock location app.
Step 4 - Set your new location
Now you can set your location in the Fly GPS App! Once done, this should change your location in Pokémon Go as well!
But be warned: Niantic has ways of detecting spoofing and does sometimes outright ban accounts caught spoofing. Sometimes Niantic is able to detect when you are using a GPS spoofer, and it will give you error code 12 and you will be unable to catch Pokémon.
If that happens you can try again with a different spoofer, but it doesn’t always work.
Flying on iOS
Pokémon Go GPS Spoofing can be used on iOS too. Using the Fly GPS app it’s possible to spoof and “Fly” in Pokémon Go.
Step 1 - Download the app
Navigate to the app store and download Fly GPS iOS. Install and then launch the program.
Step 2 - Enable Developer options
Go to iPhone settings. Navigate to the “Privacy & Security” option, and then select “Developer mode”. Enable Developer Mode and then restart your device when prompted.
Then go back to settings and navigate to developer options. Tap on “Mock Locations” and enable it.
Step 3 - Set your Mock Location App
Go to “Location Options” (use the search bar if necessary) and select “GPS, WI-Fi, and Mobile networks” option.
Step 4 - Open Fly GPS
Open Fly GPS on your iPhone and choose the location you want to spoof from. Tap on the “GPS Service Run” option and then choose “Joystick Location Mode”.
Your location should now be changed and you should be able to use your new fake location to play Pokémon Go.
But the same warnings apply to the iOS version of spoofing as with the Android: it’s against the TOS set out by Niantic, and they can sometimes detect whether you’re spoofing. When this happens you get error code 12 and can’t catch any Pokémon. And if they catch you, sometimes they’ll suspend or even permanently ban your account.
What if I don’t want to enable developer options?
If you’re unwilling or unable to enable developer options on either your Android or iOS devices there is still a way you can location spoof in Pokémon Go.
But to do this you’re going to connect your phone to your PC, and another app. One which works is the Dr.Fone Location Changer app.
Step 1 – Download and setup the app
First users should download the Dr.Fone app from the official website by clicking on the virtual location changer download link:
So yeah, download the app and install it on your PC. Then connect your Android phone or iOS device to your PC using a USB cable.
Step 2 – Change the GPS Location
Once downloaded and properly installed, click on your computer’s Home screen and open the ‘Virtual Location’ app. You should now have access to the fake GPS.
Press the ‘Get Started’ option. View your current location, then choose a location to spoof from.
Click on the ‘Centre on’ buttonto view your current location. Then click on ‘Teleport’ mode so you can type in any location you want.
Step 3 – View the fake location
Enter the name of where you want to spoof from. Then you should find this newly updated virtual location as your current location as soon as you click ‘Move Here’ in the app.
You can move the pin whenever you want. You can test whether it’s worked by opening the Fly GPS app on the spoofed location.
The same warnings apply to this method of spoofing, too – it doesn’t always work, and Niantic can sometimes tell when you’re doing it. As this is against the Pokémon Go TOS, Niantic can and will ban or suspend accounts caught doing this, so spoof at your own risk!
