How to Refer a Friend in Fortnite & Earn Rewards

Fortnite’s refer a friend program, better known as refer a friend 3.0, is a cross-platform program where Fortnite players can team up with other new or existing Fortnite players. This program allows players to obtain cool new in-game rewards by completing challenges with their other players. This program is also a really great way to earn XP and level up fast in Fortnite.

Before you can refer friends to the Fortnite program, you will need to become a referrer on the Refer a Friend website. Go to the Refer a Friend website and create an account; it's important that you use the same account details you use for your Epic Games account. Once you’ve successfully created an account, you can follow the steps below to start referring friends.

1. Go to the Refer a Friend website and sign into your new account.
2. On the website, go to your friends list and begin inviting friends with your referral. You can invite up to five friends.
3. Once they accept your invite, you can all join each other in completing the in-game challenges to earn rewards.

Unfortunately, there are a few limitations to participating in Refer a Friend 3.0. For instance, each team member can only claim the rewards from the challenges once; if you try to put together a new team to gain extra rewards, it will not work. 

Additionally, you cannot participate a second time in the opposite position as your first participation; what this means is that, if you were the referrer, you cannot participate as a referee and the other way around.

How to Earn Rewards

While you're participating in the refer a friend program, you and your team can earn rewards by completing the challenges that are listed in the ‘quests’ section on Fortnite. The challenges can be completed with any friends you invite via the refer a friend website, and you can switch up who you team up with daily.

Additionally, the program has a Reactivation Round section as well, where you’ll need to earn XP with your friends and complete the tasks to get points to unlock rewards. You can also check your own progress with your points you have in this section to see which reward you're getting close to getting.

The rewards you earn through this program are usually rewarded straight to your Fortnite account within the hour after you've completed the challenge. 

What Challenges Are Included in Refer a Friend?

Refer a Friend offers five main challenges for players to complete with their friends; for the most part, these challenges are pretty easy to complete, but the last one, for instance, is a bit more difficult. Each of the challenges rewards players with points and eventually with actual rewards such as skins, wraps, sprays, etc. Below, you’ll see the points obtainable from each challenge.

• Create a Connection for 1 point.
• Play 1 match of Fortnite with a selected friend for 1 point.
• Place the Top 10 in Fortnite six times with a selected friend for six points
• Eliminate 45 opponents in Fortnite with a selected friend for 45 points.
• Gain 50 cumulative account levels with a selected friend for 50 points.

What Kind of Rewards Can You Get?

Similar to the points system mentioned above, each set of points obtained will earn players one reward. If you want to be decked out in what is essentially just a cool mushroom skin, complete the challenges to get these rewards. The rewards for each challenge are as follows:

• Create a Connection rewards players with Redcap’s Revenge Spray.
• Playing one match of Fortnite with a selected friend rewards players with Wild Redcap’s wrap.
• Placing the Top 10 in Fortnite six times with a selected friend rewards players with portable Portobello back bling.
• Eliminating 45 opponents in Fortnite with a selected friend rewards players with a Shiitake Slasher pickaxe.
• Gaining 50 cumulative account levels with a selected friend rewards players with a Redcap outfit.
