Zyra is ideal in the early game as a poke Support champion, with her ability to put out some of the best AP damage numbers in the Bot Lane, she can poke enemies down enough to win every fight!

Zyra is one of the easier damage Supports to master, and in Patch 12.15, we believe Zyra is a decent pick to use and sits in the A tier after the latest match data. A low 3.3% pick rate and even a 1.0% ban rate means that she is easy to one trick!

First off, we will start with the best Zyra Support rune build, focusing on the Sorcery runes as a primary and the Domination tree as a secondary!

Arcane Comet as the keystone rune of choice means that Zyra can do extra poke damage, especially in the lane, with damage going up per level. Manaflow Band helps her poke even more in the laning phase, by restoring her mana faster and increasing her maximum mana throughout the game. Transcendence makes that poke do even more damage and Scorch is also another little damage boost.

Domination as Zyra’s secondary has Taste of Blood giving Zyra some survivability and healing based on her damage output, with a 20-second cooldown. Relentless Hunter gives Zyra more stacks based on enemy champion takedowns, which increases her out-of-combat movement speed - meaning she can roam more!

Hecarim and Shaco are two of the few champions that don’t use Flash, but Zyra needs it due to her lack of mobility in her kit. Ignite is even more damage, and it is great with her abilities, as it is even more damage to win fights in the bot lane!

Best Zyra Abilities Order

Ther is one of the most important parts, as you want to make sure you are leveling the right abilities at the right time! There is the best skill order for Zyra’s abilities:

With your skill order, the main ability you want to prioritize is Q, Deadly Spines. This allows you to place an AOE line that explodes any Zyra seeds it comes into contact with. This is not leveled until level three, however!

Next is her E, Grasping Roots, which is a line going forward that roots enemy champions. This is her main form of crowd control!

W, Rampant Growth is last to be leveled, as you only need the multiple seeds, you don’t need to level it up to win fights! Zyra’s Ultimate Ability, Stranglethorns leveled up at 6,12, and 16 for more crowd control and damage in her Support role!

Spellthief’s Edge upgrades into Shard of True Ice, which you then follow up with Sorcerer’s Shoes. These two together are a large power spike for Zyra, giving her 115% Base Mana Regen, 40 Magic Damage, 75 HP, and 18 Magic Penetration.

Your mythic item is Liandry’s Anguish, which deals more damage to higher HP enemies, and also applies DOT on enemies! The item includes 80 AP, 600 Mana, and 200 Ability Haste.

Ther is the final build that you want to aim toward when playing Zyra.

Zyra then follows those three with some slightly tankier items, the first of which is Zhonya’s Hourglass. Being quite squishy, the two seconds invulnerability is incredibly useful if an assassin, such as Zed or Talon jumps on you. It also gives 65 AP, 45 Armor, and 10 Ability Haste.

Morellonomicon is the fifth item in the build, it gives you 90 AP and 300 HP. It also applies Grevious Wounds, to prevent enemies from healing. The last item is Rylai’s Crystal Scepter, which slows any enemies you hit! It has 75 AP and 400 HP.

Amumu and Maokai are too tanky for Zyra to burst down, they also have a lot of crowd control in their kits, meaning they can lock down Zyra easily with her lack of mobility. Sona can poke almost as well as Zyra, but also heal herself and her ADC to minimize Zyra’s poke!

Swain has a very short range on his abilities, and cannot poke back as easily when Zyra pokes him due to his abilities being blocked by minions, so you should be able to play smart and safe to avoid him. Rakan is too squishy when dives in, meaning Zyra can crowd control him and burst him down!

Morgana is decent at preventing Zyra from killing her ADC, but does very little to prevent Zyra from killing Morgana herself. This is because Zyra can poke from behind minions, making it hard for Morgana to use her Q, Dark Binding.
