Pufferfish in Minecraft is a mob that was added not too long ago in the 1.13 aquatic update. They are a passive mob you can find in oceans and one of Minecraft's most interesting fish mobs. Where do pufferfish spawn in Minecraft?

Pufferfish spawn underwater in the following ocean biomes between y=50 and y=64 coordinates:

• Lukewarm Ocean Biome

• Deep Lukewarm Ocean Biomes

• Warm Ocean Biomes

The first thing you need to do is find any of the above-mentioned ocean biomes. Then, when you locate a group of pufferfish, try not to come near it and just kill it with your hands or any weapon.

It will drop a pufferfish item, which you can use to make potions of water breathing that are important for exploring underwater ruins. Unfortunately, you can't craft pufferfish, and neither can you cook puffer fish.

If you don't want to kill a pufferfish but still want the item, you can easily get it by fishing with a fishing rod anywhere in a large body of water. You will have bigger chances of catching one with enchanted fishing rods rather than with unenchanted fishing rods.

How to get a bone meal from Minecraft puffer fish?

To get experience orbs from puffer fish, you'll need to find one in a warm ocean biome to kill it. Then upon death, it will drop from 1 to 3 experience points, which is low. So they're not worth killing for that, either.

Pufferfish in Minecraft cannot breed. You can't even tame them, and that goes for all fish mobs in Minecraft. You can't breed them to make a farm, and it's impossible to tame them because you can't do that even in real life.

How to transport a Minecraft pufferfish?

Transporting Minecraft pufferfish may seem hard when you think about tying a fish to a lead, but it's actually way more simple than that. All you need to do to efficiently transfer another pufferfish from one place to another is:

1. Craft an iron bucket

2. Fill it with water

3. Place it in your main hand

4. Come near a pufferfish

5. Right-click the pufferfish with the water bucket

The fish will immediately find itself in your water bucket, and when you want to place it somewhere else, just right-click anywhere with the bucket, and you will place it down along with the water.

If you rename the bucket of pufferfish with a name tag, the pufferfish will spawn with that name the next time you place it down. You can do this with all other fish in Minecraft, even with the prettiest tropical fish.

Are Minecraft pufferfish hostile?

Pufferfish are passive mobs, but they still can defend themselves. When you approach a puffer fish in a 5x block radius, it will slowly start inflating, going from unpuffed to semi-puffed and then fully puffed.
