How to Get the Blood Magic Mod for Minecraft

There are 2 mods you'll need to install To use blood magic in your Minecraft survival world: the Blood Magic mod and the Patchouli mod. Both of these also require the Forge version for Minecraft which you'll have to install!

If you've already got Forge and other mods, make sure they're all in the same version as the Blood Magic mod as you won't be able to open up Minecraft at all. I've been getting errors for trying out mods for different Minecraft Forge versions, so watch out! With that out of the way, below you can see exactly how to get the Blood Magic mod for Minecraft.

Download the Blood Magic and Patchouli Mods

First thing first, we'll be downloading the mods. For this, you'll have to head to the Blood Magic mod site, and on the right side select your preferred Minecraft version. I personally chose version 1.18.2 here since the mod works well there. Then select any Blood Magic mod file on the left side, and click on "Download".

You'll have to do the same for the Patchouli mod as well. Head to the Patchouli mod site, select the version on the right side and download it. 

We'll be saving the downloaded files for later. You can get the best Minecraft modpacks in the meantime, though right now you'll have to get the correct version of Forge for Minecraft so the mods can work correctly!

Download the Forge Version for Minecraft

Getting Forge for Minecraft isn't all that hard to run the Blood Magic mod. All you'll have to do is visit the Forge website, select your Minecraft version on the left side, and click on "Installer". 

Since I chose Minecraft version 1.18.2 above, I got that Forge version for Minecraft as well. Then to install it, open up the Forge downloaded file, select the "Install client" option, and click on OK. Now wait a bit until Forge is fully downloaded.

Even if you're trying to make a Witherstorm using mods, you'll still need to download Forge. Now we're halfway done, as all there's left is to set up the Blood Magic and Patchouli mods!

Set up the Blood Magic and Patchouli Mods

To set up these mods, we'll have to move them to the Minecraft mods folder. To do this, we'll launch the Minecraft Forge version, which can be done by opening the Minecraft launcher and selecting the "Installations" tab above. Now click on "Play" under the Forge version you just installed.

When Minecraft launches, select the "Mods" option in the main menu and click on "Open mods folder". This should launch the Minecraft mods folder. Finally, move the Blood Magic and Patchouli mod files we downloaded to this Minecraft mods folder.

Now you can restart Minecraft and open the same Forge version again. Now I'd suggest you make a new Minecraft world to test out the blood magic before you use it in another one alongside the best storage mods!

How to Use Blood Magic in Minecraft

This mod is pretty extensive with lots of added features and items, but you'll basically need to craft a blood altar and a sacrificial knife to use blood magic. The blood altar can be crafted by using 3 gold bars, a furnace, and any type of stone. 

As for the knife, you'll need a gold bar, a silver bar, and 5 glass blocks. Right-clicking with the sacrificial knife in hand will fill a placed blood altar on the ground with life essence. This life essence will come straight from your health, so watch out not to die!

The blood altar is the hub when doing blood magic which can give you the most basic items of the mod. You can right-click a blood altar with an item in hand to place it there. Here are some basic items you can make with a blood altar filled with life essence:

• Diamond: Blood orbs
• Redstone Block: Apprentice blood orb
• String: Soul snares
• Any type of stone: Blank slates

Throwing a soul snare onto a mob and defeating it will give you an item called Demonic Will that can also be used for crafting other various stuff from the mod. There are also ritual stones that can be used to make cool spells. Going up to higher tiers also requires a master ritual stone, so believe me when I say this mod has a ton of items and features!

Luckily for us, there's an in-game item called Sanguine Scientiem that's a book representing a complete guide for this mod. In it, you'll find how to use the items I mentioned above to create sentient tools, bound armor, a ritual diviner for casting a suffering ritual, etc. Besides this mod, I'd rather suggest you do the best fun things to do when you're bored in Minecraft!
