How To Unlock Overwatch Heroes

By Playing Matches

Unlike the first version of the game, in Overwatch 2, Blizzard has implemented FTUE (First Time User Experience) for all new accounts with the goal of gradually introducing new players to all available strategies. What this changed when it comes to user experience is that you need to complete a specific amount of matches to unlock a particular hero.

Going from the lowest amount of matches needed to the highest, here is the list:

Hero

We recommend you doing it through Quick Play games, as Ranked Matches in Overwatch would simply take you ages; like, just look at the average game time in Overwatch. Plus, we wouldn't recommend you jumping into ranked so fast in general; it's better to learn the basics first rather than starting from Bronze.

Through Completing Special Challenges

Whenever a new hero comes out, you can unlock it by completing special hero challenge, which was the case with heroes like Junker Queen or Kiriko. In most cases, the challenges require you to use all the hero's abilities in practice. Besides that, to unlock a new Overwatch hero, you must win 35 matches that you join as "All Roles" or the role to which the hero is assigned.

By Purchasing a Hero Starter Pack Through Overwatch Store

Overwatch 2 has an option to purchase special hero starter packs, which instantly unlocks you a desired hero, eliminating the need to play matches or complete challenges. This obviously saves time and energy that would normally be needed to unlock a hero through playing matches/completing challenges. And, of course, hats off to Blizzard Entertainment for it, because I personally used this method, and it's simply a good way to monetize the game.

By Purchasing an Overwatch Account

There are many websites where you can buy Overwatch account, and players do it through many different reasons. Whether you want to play with some of the rarest Overwatch skins, try some of the hardest heroes without ranking down, or just unlocking content faster, this method allows you to unlock all this with a single transaction.

Sure, it contains a risk, but you can minimize it by buying things from trusted sellers, just like you would do on eBay, Amazon, or any marketplace, really.
