The Absolute 10 Best Gigantamax Form Pokemon [Ranked]

1 /10

Gigantamax Charizard

Charizard is a super popular Pokémon, beloved by fans and seemingly by The Pokemon Company too! If there's something special, Charizard probably has it. It has not one but two Mega Evolutions, and in Pokémon Sword and Shield was given an exclusive Gigantamax form too!

And what a form it is! Gigantamax Charizard grows to a staggering height of 91'10" (28.0m) and trades its wings in for gigantic wings of burning flame. The design is literally lit, and shows off just how terrifying a giant dragon would really be.

G-Max Charizard

And it's a fantastic makeover for Charizard too, one which enhances its design without changing too much of what is after all a classic Pokémon design.

Charizard is also one of the best Fire types thanks to its winning design and enduring appeal.

G-Max Charizard even gets an exclusive G-Max Move, G-Max Wildfire, which deals damage on use and even keeps damaging non Fire type Pokemon for four turns afterwards.

Gigantamax Urshifu

The best bear Pokemon, Urshifu is a fantastic Legendary Pokémon introduced in Pokémon Sword and Shield's Isle of Armor DLC.

One of a number of new Gigantamax forms added during the Isle of Armor DLC, Gigantamax Urshifu has two exclusive forms based on which of Urshifu's two forms are using it.

G-max Urshifu

Dark-type Single Strike Urshifu gets the exclusive move, G-Max One Blow, which is capable of dealing Dark type damage past any protective move! Very nice. Water type Rapid Strike Urshifu gets G-Max Rapid Flow, which does the same thing but deals Water type damage.

These designs are very nice in my opinion. Simple and clean, they elevate Urshifu without changing too much about the overall design. The color change is a nice touch too, allowing easy visual distinction between Urshifu's two forms.

3 /10

Gigantamax Cinderace

Cinderace doesn't get much of a design change when it Gigantamaxes, but that's okay, because the design we do get is literally on fire. Featuring a massive fireball, G-Max Cinderace is a great Pokémon with a whole lot of utility.

G-Max Cinderace

Its exclusive move G-Max Fireball ignores all Abilities, while its Libero Ability gives it STAB for every attack. This was such a big deal that Libero got nerfed!

But using its great Speed and Attack, Cinderace slaps hard and is a tough opponent.

And I think it's got a great look!

4 /10

Gigantamax Orbeetle

Gigantamax Orbeetle is a real triumph, its design showcasing the unusual UFO theming of Orbeetle and its pre-evolved forms. Orbeetle with the Gigantamax Factor transform into gigantic UFOs when they dynamax, bringing a touch of alien flair to any battle.

This Gigantamax Form is visually striking, but it's even better because it really helps to showcase Orbeetle's lore. It just looks amazing, and it's easily my personal favorite Gigantamax form.

G-max Orbeetle

And its exclusive G-Max Move, G-Max Gravitas, is pretty great too - as well as dealing powerful damage, it intensifies Gravity for five turns, allowing Flying type Pokémon and Pokemon with Levitate to be hit by Ground type moves! But it doesn't end there, since it also prevents Pokemon from even using moves like Fly, Bounce, and High Jump Kick.

An often very strategic choice in doubles formats!

Paired with Orbeetle's tankier stats, its Gigantamax Form is a great defensive option that looks good, too. So it's no wonder why it's one of the best Bug type Pokemon!

5 /10

Gigantamax Venusaur

G-Max Venusaur is quite possibly peak Venusaur. Much better than its somewhat lackluster Mega Evolution, G-Max Venusaur's design simply oozes charm.

It's even got a floppy flower hat!

This charming, dopey look is in my opinion the best version of Venusaur that exists.

G-Max Venusaur

Introduced in the Isle of Armor DLC for Sword and Shield, Venusaur was late to the G-Max Party. Its ever more popular counterpart Charizard was introduced long before it, but G-Max Venusaur was worth the wait for me.

Its G-Max Vine Lash deals damage and keeps doing it to non Grass type Pokémon for four more turns. But G-Max Venusaur's biggest draw has to be its quirky, fun design. Easily one of the better G-Max Pokémon!

6 /10

Gigantamax Rillaboom

Rillaboom is a great Pokemon, even if its design has some detractors. As the final evolution of cute little Grookey, the Grass type starter Pokémon for the Galar Region, it was a swing and miss for some fans.

But Gigantamax Form Rillaboom is just a whole load of fun. Growing monstrously tall and gaining a massive drum kit, Gigantamax Rillaboom brings a musical touch to any battle.

G-max Rillaboom

Its exclusive Gigantamax Move, G-Max Drum Solo, is great too, being able to ignore the Abilities of the opposing side to hit even if moves usually couldn't. This can be very useful in battle!

Rillaboom got even better with its Hidden Ability, Grassy Surge, which creates Grassy Terrain on entry into battle. Paired with the move Grassy Glide, Rillaboom got a reliable priority move - a move which was nerfed twice in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet!

But it's really the totally fun design that makes Gigantamax Rillaboom such a good Gigantamax Form, being the perfect encapsulation of its lore.

7 /10

Gigantamax Alcremie

Easily one of the best food Pokemon, Alcremie is nevertheless a weird little lady seemingly made of cream.

With strawberries for hair.

With eight different forms based on different 'flavors', Alcremie definitely has an unusual appearance. Easily one of the weirder Pokemon designs.

But this unusual appearance pays off big time when it enters its Gigantamax Form. Gigantamax Alcremie gets literally caked up as it becomes a 98'05" (30m) tall multi-layer cake.

G-max Alcremie

Taking its food-based design even further, G-Max Alcremie attacks with missiles made of cream, each one containing 100,000 kcals of energy.

So... maybe wait for a cheat day before trying one!

For me, G-Max Alcremie is one of the better Gigantamax Pokemon because it really plays around with the design and lore to create an unusual and unique Pokemon.

G-Max Alcremie makes a great support Pokemon as its exclusive move, G-Max Finale, deals Fairy type damage and heals the user and its allies by 1/6th of their current maximum HP.

8 /10

Gigantamax Toxtricity

Featuring a unique type combination, Toxtricity is a seriously cool Pokemon with some great utility introduced in Pokemon Sword/Shield.

Its baby form, Toxel, is one of the best baby Pokemon too, while its awesome Gigantamax form also pretty great.

Gigantamax form Toxtricity blends the designs of its two forms to create a massively cool Gigantamax Pokemon.

G-max Toxtricity

Toxtricity with the Punk Rock Ability deal more damage with sound-based moves too, perfect for using their exclusive move, Overdrive.

G-Max Toxtricity's exclusive move, G-Max Stun Shock, is the only Electric type move capable of Poisoning its target.

As if anyone needed another reason to love it!

9 /10

Gigantamax Coalossal

Gigantamax Coalossal is the unusual combination between a prehistoric monster and an Industrial Era coal furnace. Not overly different from its standard design, the design definitely manages to show off the Pokémon's design influences.

G-max Coalossal

But it's not just about the design. Gigantamax Coalossal gets the powerful move, G-Max Volcalith, which deals Rock type damage and, for four turns after, damage equal to 1/6th of its foes' health. Pretty nice!

Coalossal and its pre-evolutions are the only known Pokémon capable of having the Steam Engine Ability, which can boost its Speed if hit by Fire or Water type moves!

10 /10

Gigantamax Pikachu

A fan favorite Pokémon, it was maybe obvious that Pikachu would receive its own exclusive Gigantamax Form.

Sadly, there was no love for Raichu! At least it managed to get one of the best Alolan forms!

But Gigantamax Pikachu is an interesting take on the G-Max Form.

G-max Pikachu

Perhaps as a nod to the original design for Pikachu, G-Max Pikachu is a massive little chonker, quite unlike its newer design with a much sleeker body. Its tail even becomes a massive arc of electricity. Personally I liked it but because our team and the Pokemon community has another opinion, I put it on the last spot.

As the G-Max Form for Pikachu, it isn't the strongest form out there, but that's okay because it looks great and is pretty charming too.
