Hitbox and Ball Handling

When it comes to the Octane and the Octane ZSR there isn't really much of a difference, including the Hitbox. The Octane ZSR is equipped with the Octane hitbox and they also happen to have the same turning radius.

1

The Octane hitbox is considered one of the best in Rocket League, making the Octane ZSR feel the same as the Octane where you can anticipate hitting the ball better while getting the hang of the game especially if you’re a beginner. However, if you're someone who's new to Rocket League and wishes to get better at the game, you should consider just using the Octane and not the Octane ZSR, as there is not really much of a difference between the two. So, for this part, we have to give it to team Octane.

If you're somebody in the Rocket League community who is a stinker for decals (espacially the best octane decals), toppers, and many other items, you should check out our list of the best items in the game.

Appearance

We feel like the sole reason Psyonix decided to deliver the Octane ZSR to the Rocket League community was to hope to make a car that felt just like the Octane but was a little better appearance-wise.

2

Throughout the internet, you can visit many Rocket League forums on the appearance of the Octane. A lot of players complained that, although the stats say it is the best in the game, it lacked a lot appearance-wise. Rocket League is also about the appearance of the vehicles as players tend to spend a lot of time and credits trading and getting cosmetics and other items for the best prices.

3

The Octane ZSR, was intended to make a better-looking Octane for the community, however, players did not really seem to be impressed. There was a lot of hype around the news for the Octane ZSR on the first week of its release but there was also a slump in its popularity ever since. It looks like a bulkier Octane but still looks a lot like the Octane, so people in the community, didn't really find a reason to purchase it for credits or trading.

Cost

One of the best things about Rocket League is that it is not one of those pay-to-win games where you have to spend a lot of money and be worried about the different prices in order to progress in the game. Some of the best cars in Rocket League are absolutely free for everyone and this includes the Octane. The Octane has been free ever since Rocket League was released and a lot of paid cars don't even come close to it.

ins

Unfortunately, this is not the case for the Octane ZSR. The Octane ZSR does come with a price, which is again its disadvantage as it is identical to the Octane which is free. We have to give this one to team Octane too, because why worry about prices when you can get the same for free?

The data does show in some cases that some players absolutely love using the Octane ZRS and prefer it over the Octane, but we're considering the overall stats here:

The TW version of the Octane is more expensive of course.

Pro Player Approved

This is not even a fair competition as the stats and details show us that it is extremely rare to find a pro player using the Octane ZSR. There have been some pro players who've tried the ZSR out, but hardly anyone stays with it as the main choice.

4

The Octane, on the other hand, has been the key to a lot of pro players' success and has been the dominant choice in the Pro Player community. We're not denying that the Octane ZSR is good, but it is only good because it is identical to its counterpart.

Having said that, it is fair to say that the Octane is in fact the winner here, but if you're somebody who loves the Octane ZSR you should continue as it is not the worst choice.
