Valorant Error Code 67: How to Fix It
When it comes to any game, they always have bugs and errors. They are just inevitable. Even popular releases have them, such as Genshin Impact or Cyberpunk 2077. Riot Games’ Valorant game is not any different, showing its errors and bugs in error codes for various reasons.
One of these error codes is the Valorant Error Code 67. If you have encountered this error code, do not worry as here you will learn why you are getting it and how to fix Valorant Error Code 67.
The Reason behind Valorant Error Code 67
The Valorant Error Code 67 might be a bit tricky to understand, but knowing why you are getting the error code is key towards fixing it. On the official Riot Games support site banner it is stated that the reason behind Valorant Error Code 67 is due to “ChatFriendMetadataInitFailure”. What this essentially means is that the chat with your friends or in the party system has encountered bugs.
One reason for this to happen is if you performed a bad start of the Riot Client. The Riot Client has been known to cause a lot of error codes for players. So it’s no wonder that the Riot Client can also cause the Valorant Error Code 67 to appear.
Another reason for the Valorant Error Code 67 might not even be your fault. If the Riot servers have issues or if there is server maintenance, there are chances you might encounter the Valorant Error Code 67. This can happen if the servers do not properly recognize the chat system data.
The Riot Vanguard can also cause the Valorant Error Code 67. The Vanguard anti-cheat system may be the best at recognizing hackers, but it lacks most in optimization, especially in low-end Windows PCs. Although for the Error Code 67, it is rare for the Riot Vanguard to cause it, but still possible.
Now knowing why you might be getting the Valorant Error Code 67, next up you will learn how you can fix it!
How to Fix Valorant Error Code 67
Restart Valorant and Riot Client
The first solution that you can try to fix the issue with the Valorant Error Code 67 is to restart Valorant and the Riot Client. Even Riot Games recommends you try this solution out first. The Riot Client’s misbehavior can be problematic at times, so looking at the severity of the situation it can either fix the Valorant Error Code 67 temporarily or forever.
To fully restart the Riot Client and Valorant, you will first open up Task Manager by pressing Ctrl+Shift+Esc. Select the Processes tab above and locate Valorant. Once you locate it, right-click it and click on End task. Depending on the game’s situation, you may not even see Valorant, so it might have already been closed off. Then locate the Riot Client, right-click it and click on End task.
If restarting Valorant and the Riot Client did not fix your Valorant Error Code 67, no worries! The error code might not even be your fault!
Check the Riot Servers
The next solution you can try out is to check the Valorant servers. They may be undergoing updates or fixes for issues, so that may be why you are getting the Valorant Error Code 67. The Valorant servers also cause the Error Valorant Van 6, so watch out for this one too!
To check the Riot Servers, go to the official Valorant support site banner and select the Service Status tab above. This will lead you to a new tab, where you will have to select the region in which your Riot ID is registered. If you notice any issues here, all you can do is wait!
You can also check the Valorant Twitter account, as they announce server issues or server maintenance there at times.
But what if you did not notice any servers issue here? Then the last solution you can try to fix the issue with Valorant Error Code 67 is to
Reinstall Riot Vanguard
Although it is a rare instance, the Riot Vanguard can cause the Valorant Error Code 67. That is why if none of the solutions above helped you fix the error code, you should try reinstalling Riot Vanguard. This is mostly due to the fact that if there is a problem with this anti-cheat system, it most probably will cause another error code! The Riot Vanguard can also be the source of Windows Firewall error codes like with the Error Van 68. So here is how you can fully reinstall it:
- Make sure you have closed off the Riot Client and all Valorant Content from Task Manager or System Tray option (arrow pointing upwards on Windows Taskbar below). If you see the Riot Vanguard or Riot Client in System Tray, right-click them and close them off
- Go to the Search Bar below, search for Command Prompt, right-click it and run it as an Administrator
- Type in the following commands one by one:
- “sc delete vgc”, press Enter and
- “sc delete vgk”, press Enter
- You must restart your Windows PC
- Once your PC boots up again, open the Search Bar below, search for This PC and locate yourself to the Program Files folder (“C:\Program Files”)
- Find the Riot Vanguard folder, and once you do, right-click it and delete it
- Open the Valorant game client, this should automatically start reinstalling Riot Vanguard
