How To Control Spray in Valorant

Each has its own unique spray pattern. Some are easy to notice and control, but most have random recoil patterns that are hard to control. If you want to learn more about the guns' recoil patterns, TheGlobalGaming already has a complete recoil guide for each weapon spray pattern.

Tips to control spray in Valorant

Now that you already know about the different spray patterns of automatic guns, you now need to know how to control recoil and avoid whiffing.

Don’t follow your crosshair

1

New (and some old) Valorant players have this habit of aiming their crosshairs on an enemy even though they are spraying their weapon. Yes, the first few bullets of the eight automatic guns are almost always consistent with your crosshair, but the gun’s recoil is much higher and difficult to control. After the 10th bullet, do not be dependent on your crosshair and instead focus on where the shots are going.

2 /10

Lower the game sensitivity

One of the tips in learning how to control spray in Valorant is in the game’s settings. The lower you set your game sensitivity, the easier you can make minor adjustments based on where the bullets are going.

3 /10

Expand your mouse space

Have you noticed that professional Valorant players and streamers use large mouse pads? Because of their lower in-game sensitivity, they need a larger area to move the mouse. As a rule of thumb in Valorant, you should be able to do a complete 180 with one arm motion without having to lift your mouse.

4 /10

Look for the perfect mouse

Most professional Valorant players use around 200-400 eDPI, which is your mouse dpi multiplied by your in-game sensitivity. For example, if your mouse has 800 dpi and your in-game sensitivity is 0.4, your eDPI is 320. When playing Valorant and other FPS games, a 400 dpi to 1000 dpi mouse is the best.

Crouch while spraying

2

Professional Valorant players are practicing to one-tap enemies by disabling the ability of their agent to crouch. However, if you have yet to master the art of one, it is best to control weapon spray by crouching since it will make your crosshair drop a little bit and land back on your target since most guns have a vertical recoil.

Train through third-party apps

Playing the game can only do so much, and that’s where third-party applications like Aimlab came in. To fully master crouching mid-spray, you need to place your crosshair on the head of the enemy, and that’s where Aimlab helps.

Play Deathmatch and go to the Range

Before playing unrated or competitive matches, some Valorant players usually start by playing Deathmatch or going to the Range, and there are valid reasons for that. By playing Deathmatch, you can fully practice how to control spray (and, better yet, perfect spray transfer) since enemies come from all angles, and you have no one to watch your back.

Enable Firing Error

3

Valorant has introduced Firing Error that makes your crosshair larger as you spray your weapon to show how much your aim has been affected by the weapon recoil. If you don't want your crosshair to be larger, you can just turn on the Fade Crosshair With Firing Error, which makes the top part of your crosshair disappear mid-spray.

9 /10

Mix and match your crosshair

Professional Valorant players have unique crosshairs of their own, but it doesn’t mean you should use what they are using. Over time, you should mix and match your crosshair to know where you are comfortable. Valorant lets you have multiple crosshair profiles you can choose from, even during the game. After all, with proper crosshair placement, you can one-tap enemies.

10 /10

Play the game regularly

The most effective way of learning how to control spray is to play the game regularly. Professional Valorant players have to disable the Firing Error settings because they have already taught their muscles the specific mouse movements to kill opponents. Playing Valorant regularly trains your brain and your muscles to do things subconsciously. After all, consistency is the key to everything.
