Best Attack Strategies For Town Hall 4 In Clash of Clans

Before we dive into the best beginner armies for Town Hall 4, let's briefly talk about your maximum army capacity at this Town Hall level. At Town Hall 4, you'll have access to 80 Troop Capacity and 15 Clan Castle Capacity. For these armies to be successful, make sure to max out your troops!

1 /3

Giants + Archers

One of the most common strategies you can use at Town Hall 4 is the Giants + Archers strategy. The idea of the strategy is very straightforward and easy to execute. For this attack strategy, your army composition should look like this:

giant archer

OPTIONAL: If you have access to Clan Castle Troops, you should request Giants or Wizards to strengthen your army.

Giants Kill Mortar

  1. The main idea of the army is to have all your Giants attacking on one side.

  2. Since we will be using a lot of Archers, the most dangerous defensive building is the Mortar. This means that we will deploy all our Giants on the side where the enemy Mortar is located.

  3. Make sure to place some Wall Breakers to help your Giants break through the first wall compartment.

  4. Your giants will be acting as a meat shield for the Archers that you will place behind them. Deploy your Archers in a small line behind your Giants. Avoid clumping them up in case the enemy Mortar is still alive.

  5. The Archers will be supporting your Giants by clearing out any buildings and defenses.

  6. The Giants will protect the Archers and begin clearing the rest of the enemy base, speeding up the process.

Archers Clean Up

2 /3

Giants + Balloons

The second attack strategy will require you to try out a new troop that wasn’t available in Town Hall 3: the Balloons. If you’re unfamiliar with how to use Balloons, don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. Your army composition should look like this:

giants balloons

OPTIONAL: If you have access to Clan Castle Troops, you should request Giants or Balloons to strengthen your army.

Giants Destroy Air Defense

  1. The main idea is to use your Giants and Archers to destroy the enemy Air Defense, then deploy your Balloons once the Air Defense is down.

  2. Air Defenses are highly effective against your Balloons, so we will be using all our Giants to clear out the enemy Air Defense first.

  3. Deploy your Giants and Archers, supported by Wall Breakers, on the side of the base where the Air Defense is located.

  4. Once the Air Defense is down, drop all your Balloons on the closest Archer Tower. You want to eliminate Archer Towers first with your Balloons, as they are the only remaining buildings that can shoot air targets apart from the Air Defense.

  5. With no more defenses that can threaten air units, your Balloons will easily clean up the rest of the enemy base.

Balloons Placement

Mass Balloons

After you’ve had some practice with the previous strategy, your knowledge of the Balloons will have increased. In this next army, we will be using mass amounts of Balloons, so stay tuned. Your army composition should look like this:

mass balloons

OPTIONAL: If you have access to Clan Castle Troops, you should request Balloons or Baby Dragons to strengthen your army.

Balloons Placement

  1. The main idea is to destroy the enemy Air Defense as quickly as possible.

  2. You will immediately drop all 14 of your Balloons as close as you can toward the enemy Air Defense.

  3. Though you will lose some in the process, your Balloons will eventually be able to overwhelm the enemy Air Defense and destroy it.

  4. The only remaining buildings that can target air units are Archer Towers, which shouldn’t be that big of a deal.

  5. The last step is to use your Archers to help your Balloons destroy the rest of the base while the enemy defenses are occupied.

  6. You can also send Archers to destroy Archer Towers if the Balloons are tanking the shots.

  7. This is by far the easiest strategy to execute on the list.

3 /3

Barch (Barbarians + Archers)

Last but not least, we’ve chosen to still include Barch, as it is one of the best beginner strategies and has the lowest training time in this entire list. If you’re looking to get into Barch in Town Hall 4, your army composition should look like this:

barch

OPTIONAL: If you have access to Clan Castle Troops, you should request Giants or Balloons to strengthen your army.

Barch Placement

  1. Using Barch doesn’t really change as you upgrade your Town Hall. The main idea is that Barch is a farming strategy where you send your Barbarians and Archers in small groups.

  2. You want to place three to four Barbarians in front of an outer building. These Barbarians will tank damage for your Archers.

  3. The whole point of the strategy is to place the same amount of Archers behind your Barbarians to clean up the rest of the building.

  4. Keep sending your Barbarians followed by Archers to swarm the entire enemy base.

  5. Try deploying your troops quickly so that enemy defenses will be overwhelmed with all the troops surrounding them.

  6. Just in case, we recommend including some Wall Breakers in the army if you need to get past a wall.

  7. Keep in mind that Barch isn’t necessarily a 3 star strategy, but is an effective farming strategy with low training time and down time.
